rats
   

I have crossed the brigde but have found nothing .
where are the rats and how do I find them

They are all around there. In several houses. You do not need to find them, just go everythere (You do not need to unlock locked houses to finish this quest).

Do you mean the Rattkin Breeders?

They can be found in a little tree house on its own in the Rattkin tree. As Danicek said nothing special needed to get at them.

Kill them and you won't have trouble finding other Ratts as they will be lining up to kill you.

Don't forget that you WILL need the Ratt key to say "hello" to the breeders, although that is pretty easy to find.
