Sword skil attributes - are they constant?

Are the sword skill points the same for level 2 characters as they are for level 30?. If I had 58 points in long sword and was level 3, would I be just as adept in the long sword if I had 58 points and was 30 (with all other skills the same in each example).

Yes you would.
Long sword skill is also effected by your strenght. Short blades are effected by your speed.

Your skill is also effected by your fatique. If your tired you hit les.

Just curious, cause I trying to build up my sword skills, I am at the very beginning of the game in the starting town. I want to go into a Tomb, but my short sword skills are at 9. I assumed a silver weapong is required to successfully enter the tomb and the only available ones are the short sword and the cane. My short sword level is so low that I do absolutely no damage at all with the silver short sword. So I am standing on the shore stabbing the little fish with my iron short sword trying to build up my short sword skills. Believe me, it is a very slow process. I did find the enchanted axe in the town. I haven't tried that on the ghosts yet, maybe that will work

XeroX u r wrong. Enchanted weapons dont damage creatures like ghosts/dremora etc... only by their enchatment. Its enough to have some really small cheap enchantment on it and they will be effective as any other weapon. I myself had Restore 25 HP When strikes on my daedric warhammer

Bearishsun, I think it would have been better to put an absorb health spell because you actually take health away from the enemy.
