By my reckoning:
*Too linear/lack of different endings/lack of huge end battle.
*Game/Story can easily be messed up by doing things early. For example, I had a focus, the Almanac, and some other stuff before I knew what they were. I also slaughtered the Orc town before I met Ur-Shak. And I went to Stonehenge before the focus search, leading to frustration at the seemingly invincible guardian. I spent a while trying to knock him off a cliff.
*Monster clipping. The bodies of monsters go through objects, like tree stumps and rocks.
*Combat system. Just plain poor for more than one enemy.
*Controls.

Really? The lack of mouse bindability was annoying, and the strange key combinations were hard to get used to.
As for the combat system, the way it locks on to one enemy and you can only damage that enemy even though your swing goes through others is stupid. It's what made the skeletons hard; you've got 4-8 of them dancing around you, hacking from all sides, and you can only hit one, and he just jumped out of range. |

The controls weren't that bad. I learned them quickly. The combat system on the other hand did lack finesse.

Yeah, they're not bad once you get used to them, but they could've been better with little effort. And maybe it was just my computer, but in big fights, sometimes the controls would get stuck. |

I liked the combat controls. Surrounded by 8 skeletons, that seems like a tactical error to me. Though there could have been some kind of round attack to contact more than one enemy. I always used the mouse/keyboard combos, everything seemed to work better. |

It would be if there was another option. No matter how much I move, they always crowd around. They're programmed to try and get behind you. |

Well, its pretty realistic, it must be pretty hard to attack more than one enemy with one attack... |

Wasn't Lysander the potion guy in Khalim Land or whatever in Diablo 2?

I don't know, never played it.
Lysander means "the one who will free us" in Greek. |

Not with a cross swing, which is mostly what I used. In fact, with the heavier weapons, it would be hard *not* to hit other things. |

According to the Gothic2 preview the combat controls will be a lot better in part 2.
I personally think G2 will have less bugs because PB now know their engine and can concentrate on using existing tools to create a new game. |

Good luck PB! But I must admit that the monsters looked pretty funny when half of them was sometimes getting stuck in the rocks... |

Try framing skeletons. Fighting in the the caves you can draw them back to a doorway and 'frame' them in the doorway, thus fighting them one at a time. Lysander is a character from a Greek play, not sure which one. Another example
of the 'borrowing' of words. |
