Gothic is a great game, but it's still not good enough to finish. In 22 years of playing RPGs I've finished only two. Boredom or frustration usually sets in before the game is over. In Gothic my "time to quit" moment came at the tower where the second Chromanin book is. I know it's on the top of the tower, but my hand eye coordination is no longer good enough to get me there. So after an hour of trying to climb up I gave up. A game like this one shouldn't be, even for an instant, like Quake. Still, It's worth the price. I haven't figured out what's next yet. maybe I'll wait for the Daggerfall successor.

DUUUDE!!!!

Just transform into a bloodfly and float up that ramp.

Transform back to human and climb easily up to the top ledge. Get the book.

After that the riddle is hard so I'll give you a hint:

GO TO THE GODAMN RIVER NEAR THE OLD CAMP!

You finished only two RPGs in 22 years of playing them?
Hmm...
And you think this is about good and bad games and not about your patience?

this game *ISNT* about hand-eye coordination... there's many ways to get to that book without having twitch reflexes.
If you've only finished 2 games in over 20+ years of playing, you should make this your 3rd, the replay value on this is amazing

You know what. I take all I said back!

Just quit.

You are not worthy enough to play Gothic if you cant figure out where old Chrommie is!

haha two things:
1) Chromanin is supposedely a very complex SIDE quest(Im still stuck on the 4th book), not needed to finish the game, maybe you go back to it after you've done everything and are about to finish the game
2) Who is PB anonymous hehehe

Or you could transform into a meatbug and just crawl really slowly upwards...heh..

I doubt it, but it sounded humorous..

I was a bit frugal with my scrolls as well, but I realized something: when else are you gonna need to become a scavenger, lurker, or bloodfly?

Nowhere! Certainly not in the underground temple.

Bah, any scroll I found with yellow markings on it was instantly sold off for ore/supplies
I only ever found 1 use for a transform scroll and that was when I was with Gorn
