Atari/Infogrames CEO interviewed by GameSpy |
|
GameSpy has posted up an interview with Atari's/Infogrames' CEO Bruno Bonnell. It deals with the name change from Infogrames to Atari and the 'Matrix' games. |

I dont get it...
Does Infogrames (now Atari) have any ties to the original Atari company? Before I read the interview, I was thinking maybe Atari bought out Infogrames but the way the interview reads its like the just changed their name to Atari though they have nothing really to do with the original Atari company. _________________ The Poster Previously Known As NeptiOfPovar |

No, they don't. They bought Hasbro somewhere along the line who owned the Atari brand name. All they have in common with the 'old' Atari is the name. _________________ Jaz |

Somehow, that just seems a little misleading to me... _________________ The Poster Previously Known As NeptiOfPovar |

PARODY
Excerpt from Ed Bradley's 60 minutes interview with Mr. Bonnel:
Interviewer (Ed Bradley of 60 Minutes) : Now Mr. Bonnell..you knew this question was coming. And you know I won't let you off the hook until its answered...
(Camera cuts to Bonnell, nodding his head and smiling with a sheepish grin)
Bradley : Gothic 2...when is it coming out.
Bonnell (composed and diplomatic) : You know Ed, you and all of those fans out there who are waiting for Gothic 2 have a right to be upset .. dissapointed. But the true fact is that we JUST got our hands on this title are doing everything in our power to get it out to you guys. Now I'm not going to name any names, but I think you know the real reason why things are so screwed up.
Bradley: But its been more than a month since you bought the title from Jowood. You figure there would at least be some announcment as to a North American release? Why the guessing game?
Bonnell: These things take time Ed. Do you have any idea what it takes to run a large media distribution shop? We just shipped "Enter the Matrix" to 4 million stores worldwide a few days ago. Do you really think we've had time to focus on lower tier product?
Bradley: I'd hardly classify Gothic 2 as "lower tier". It's a world class RPG title that deserves top release priority.
Bonnell: Whatever. All you fanboys need to just chill. Here's a wake up call: Most people don't give a crap about The Sleeper, Onar's Farm, or Xardas. They'd rather play stale movie tie-ins with Bullet-time and Jada-Pinkett Smith voice overs.
Bradley: Your honeymoon period is over with the fans. I can read you pages and pages full of disparaging comments as well as show you some animated GIFs with characters doing nasty things to the Atari logo.
Bonnell: ..so what? What do you want me to do..stop everything we're doing and get this game out tommorow?
Bradley: That'd be nice. But seriously, how about you give me the name of the internal person who is handling the release. We'll pay him/her a visit and crack some heads.
Bonnell: I'm not going to be bullied by you. Did RPGDot put you up to this? They don't call them the "Gothic Mafia" for nothing.... _________________ All shall hear the words of Karras...the words of Karras |
