information question :)

hiya

I wanna ask something from the masters ( that means you guys )

I wanna be a MAGE

and it the first time i'm playing Gothic 2 ( played Gothic 1 off course )

so in order to be a Novice , the only thing I gotta do is to get 1000 gold and a sheep

but my question is - Do I need to defeat the thief's guild before being a mage/novice

or is it just for being in milita ?

and if I don't need to defeat the thief's - do you got any tips before becoming a mage , i'm allready exploring the world of gothic

and I found on one mountais next to the LANDLOWNER a small "town" full of bandits but when I passed the guard I went explore the city found some mines but a guy named Dexter killed me ( he is easy to kill but all the bandits where all over me and shit so ... )

can you hlep me plz ? tnx

Now, I in no way consider myself a master, but I hope that's ok.

Unless you really want to (like I did. I don't like people who threaten me.) I don't think you should kill the thieves at all. You get more, both XP and gold if you join them.

And the bandits up there are the ones who are handing out wanted posters with your picture on it. I'm not sure but I think if you talk to a city guard named Pablo before and after you kill them you might get some Exp. points, but either way you can just kill them off.

Hope that helps you some.

or just leave the quest and be a mage without doing it

I wanted to know what will happen if I will do the quest and then become a mage

will it help me in something ?

OK, join the thieves, do their quests then betray them and get more EXP, plus you can then rob their bodies for keys to even more goodies. I'd suggest becoming an apprentice to Constantino and learn how to make healing, mana and spirit potions. Build up your strength to 50 with either LP, potions or both. (make some, despite what people say, I found/bought heaps of sorel ) Get the +15 STR amulet, so you can use Orc Slayer. Learn 1H to 30 as well, all before you become a novice. Save your prayer to Innos for MUCH later. gather all the herbs you can find. When you've done all the city and merc quests you should be anything from level 10-15. Now become a novice. Also, as you move from chapter to chapter, always keep 15LP in reserve. % for the circle and 10 for 2 runes. If you want suggestions for the best runes, just ask.

For the plot to advance, you have to join either the Monastery(mage), the militia(Paladin) or the Mercenaries(Dragon Hunter).

Apart from these three basic factions, you can also join the thieves guild, and become an apprentice for one of the three masters in town. (Smith, Hunter or Alchemist.)

You must choose one of the first three to finish the game, the others are optional.

Oh, allmost forgot. No you cannot learn any magic if you play as a mercenary, only scrolls.
