Baldur's Gate 3: It's not us says Georg Zoeller

This probably barely passes as news but if you harboured a secret wish that the unnamed developer of Atari's BG3 might still be BioWare, it isn't:
I think Atari announced in some printmag they are doing BG3, but I don't know more than that. I'm sure they'll have an official announcement about it. BioWare, at this time, is not working on a BG game.
Few observers would have thought it was BioWare anyway, although I'm sure a few of you are noting Georg's use of "at this time".

Wha? I had thought Bioware owned Baldur's Gate for some reason. I guess Interplay owned it, since they published the original Baldur's Gate, and that's how it got into Atari's hands?

This bothers me. Much like the way the RIAA takes complete ownership of songs from their recording artists, publishers take the licenses of any game they publish. Is this the way it is with all game publishers?

Hmmm ... Can I still be hoping that the unnamed developer might be Troika? I guess ... Yes!

Hmm, well Atari did publisher Troika's ToEE, right? Could very well be. Anyone know how well ToEE sold, though? I wish there was a site that had sales figures for games... or if there is, I've never been able to find it.
