Mage After Guard??

Did I make a BIG mistake? I am a guard & can not get Corrist to talk to me about becoming a mage. Do I have to be a mage to use spells other than scrolls? Thanks for any help on the subject.

If you are a guard in the Old camp already you cannot become a fire mage
[ i think... ].You have to be a mage to use runes.

Oh Mannnnnn......

That is what I am starting to think too Just hoping someone knows a way around it because I don't think I can cast any rune spell at all? Kinda takes some of the fun out of it. Thanks for the reply.

After becoming a guard officially, there is no way to become a mage until a later chapter.
An exploit you can use though, is tell Thorus you want to be a mage. Go and talk to Milten about becoming a mage. Instead of entering the temple to talk to Corristo, go back to Thorus and become a guard and get your training. Then get your armor. After that, then enter the temple and become a fire mage.

Thanx Val

I tried all that and it still doesn't work. Thorus" won't say anything about Mage and Corristo will not speak to me at all. Appreciate the help though. Guess I am just stuck playing as a warrior.

It works only if you do what Val said before you become a Guard. If you cannot reload a previous save, just wait, you will get a chance to become one.

Make sure you save your skill ponits though. Being a good mage doesn't come cheap.
