Morrowind 3D vs Gothic 3D

Hey,

I havent noticed anyone bring this up so far so I just wanted to get peoples oppinion on this.

One of the things I liked about Gothic, was that the world realy felt 3D, not just the graphics, but you realy had a feeling of height.

For example, when you first get into the camp, you come down that huge mountain, and then you can walk down to the Old Camp or you could climb up to your left and you would be on that REAL high mountain and see all the way over the Old Camp.

And if you had the view distance set to full you could see that mountain way in the distance, with the path going up the side of it. Now this mountain was huge, and I just love the way you could explore the whole world's high mountains as well as its fields, plains and cities.

Now morrowind doesnt seem to have anything like this, admitedly the world has hills, but there arent realy any mountains that I see (I havent been to the volcano yet btw). The world seems very flat, which was kind of dissapointing because I sure did love climbing up that mountain in gothic and finding that huge lake with all those waterfalls running into it, and that river running all the way down the mountain to the Old Camp.

This isnt a flame at all (Morrowind is my favourite RPG ever), just an observation. Anyone else have an oppinion on this?

It would make sense that there aren't any mountains.. Lava flow washes any shrubbery away erosion takes out the mountains.

But the Volcano... I've only been as far as the shrine inside the ghost fence but I didn't see any towering volcano.

Perhaps it is of the collapsed variety.

I did like the towering mountains of gothic

Yeah you are right. Mountains are kinda out of place on a small island. But I love them so much!

i love both games! however, as far as the graphics and 3D effects go i think gothic wins out right. MW has beautiful landscapes etc, but the characters and critters tend to look goofy. they aren't as smooth or well thought out as those in gothic. otherwise i have no complaints about either game. i do enjoy the variety offered in MW, verses the stock housing in gothic. it is nice to see that both bestheda and piranah are doing a great job on their rpgs.

one of the things thats pissing me off is a lot of the hill's etc you CAN'T GO OVER, they are like cut off at the top, now talking about feeling out of place, i don't see WHY they did this, argh, makes me feel like i'm less immersed now when i can't go up and over a hill for a shortcut.

I am not 100% certain on this but I have kinda noticed that as my acrobatics goes up I can seem to walk up steeper and steeper slopes. So eventually I should be able to get to the top of all hills.

Here, I tell you what -
When I get the game I will make a very, very large mountain. There will be two ways to get to the top.
a) climbing
b) quick transport

When you get to the top you will meet an argonian with facial hair and is in a white suit and is holding a golden cane (with a fossolized orniment on top) and a cigar.
