Plugin: new: Magic Mastery

The Magic Mastery mod will essentially accomplish 2 things:
- Reduce the mana cost (depending on magic skills and fatigue)
- Change the way your magic skills are being improved (quality instead of quantity)

This mod will reduce the mana cost (but not their difficulty) of all spells. the reduction of mana cost depends on your fatigue percentage and your average magic skills mastery and magic skill of the school you casted. This means a player focused on magic skills will be able to cast spells longer before running out of mana. and a player who is not will hardly notice ant effects.

This mod will in contrast to other mana regenerating plugins not cripple game balance by giving you a sense of an unlimited mana supply and never having to rest any more (due to the constant regenerated many supply). Instead, the cost of spells will be reduced depending on magic skill and fatigue (concentration) up to a maximum of 1 mana point cost. So a fully experienced wizard (maximised magic skills) with 200 mana points, will be able to cast up to 200 spells before he needs to sleep again. This mod will not modify any global settings not spells. It all is based on a script that will give mana back to the player after a spell is cast. This script will give mana back if the player is being affected by drain, damage of absorb mana spell.

Training your magic skills will, no longer depend on the number of spells you cast (quantity), but how much mana they costed (quality). So, training your skill by casting a 1 mana spell repeatedly will no longer increase your skill, but casting spells that cost more than 1 mana point will.

Introduction:

This mod essentially will allow players focused on magic casting skills to be come much better characters by allowing them to cast more powerful spells and with less mana. This mod will both reduce the mana cost and difficulty for casting spells (without changing magic difficulty or magic settings). The reduction of mana cost depends on your fatigue percentage, your average magic skills, the magic skill you used and an extra accoutred magic mastery bonus. The Magic mastery skill is not only a bonus, but will eventually allow you to reduce the cost of spells, even when you tired and wounded. For each magic casting skill you can train a magic mastery bonus using your magic skills. In contrast to your normal magic casting skills, you will not increase your your skills by the number of spells you cast, but by their magical cost. This means you won't be able to increase your skill fast by casting 1 mana spells repeatedly. Besides the way you train the magic mastery skill, it rate will also be different, because a mastery skill will become increasingly more difficult to level after your mastery skill rises

Background:

In the original Morrowind context, playing a character fully focused on magic casting skills was very difficult due to the fact the he would run out of mana much too fast (especially on higher levels). If you take in account that a weapon specialist, from the same level is easily a lot more powerful, you wound be able to deny that magic users are under powered. This mod was created to correct this problem by allowing trained magic casting specialist to become far more powerful than they currently are. The main goal of this mod is to improve the effectiveness of the magic casting skills without unbalancing the game or change the effectiveness of other skills. In the past, there have been several plugins that try to solve the magic effectiveness problem.

One solution many magic plugins come up with have is mana regeneration. This mod will in contrast to mana regenerating plugins not cripple game balance by giving you a sense of an unlimited mana supply and never having to rest any more (due to the constant regenerated many supply). Instead, the cost of spells will be reduced depending on magic skills, fatigue and healthpercentage (concentration) up to a maximum of 1 mana point cost. So a fully experienced wizard (maximised magic skills) with 200 mana points, will be able to cast up to 200 spells before he needs to regenerate his magica again. This mod will not modify any global settings nor spells effects. It all is based on a script that will give mana back to the player after a spell is cast. This script will give mana back if the player is being affected by drain, damage of absorb mana spell.
