well, I just checked for one user of eaach spellbook. How would you define a "user with healing powers", so that I can code it?

or locks & traps? ok, I can add that.

sure, why not? it's only a warning and thy are useful for newbies like me? Do you mean warn that there is none of them, or warn if one is present that other is absent? I think it's enough to have either one of them, personally.

How do I figure that out? Isn't it enough to cover all 4 books?
> you are not able to wield the following armor, weapon: CoC, Great Sword,...
hmm, I can see I am going to have to do more research on this. bascially, I will have to find the cheat sheets & find the race/profession requierments for each major weapon/armor.
Thanks for the input. Maybe this will grow into something...
1) 3 fighters is probably right, but it depends on what classes you call fighters. Some (fighter, lord, valk, samurai, monk, ninja) are obvious, but others (ranger, rogue) depend strongly on how they are developed.
2) Checking for healing could be tricky, since spell selection will make a big difference. If you want "heal wounds" right off the bat, you'd have to have an alch, psi, priest, or bishop. For NewBs, it might make sense to limit it to immediate access to divinity (priest and bishop).
3) Definitely check for locks-n-traps. If you're feeling energetic, check for pickpocket too.
4) Since (post-patch) pickpocket blows, rogues are VERY weak. Point 3 above will push the user into a bard OR a gadgeteer anyway, although technically a ninja could cover it (not a good idea for NewBs).
5) Covering 4 books is a good check since you won't be able to control the user's spell picks.
6) I'd probably skip this one. NewBs aren't going to know whether they want certain items anyway, because they won't know what they are. If they care enough to want a specific item before even starting the game, they probably know what the requirements are anyway.
7) An additional one I'd strongly recommend for a NewB is the auto-search skill of a ranger. That's a pretty straight-forward check.
Hope this all helps. _________________ =Proud Member of the Non-Flamers Guild=

Sorry. No pearls of wisdom in this oyster.
