Why would we choose Light Armor skill over Heavy?? |
|
Providing your character has decent strength, why would anyone not got with Heavy armor? What are the advantages of light armor? Does it make me move faster? harder to hit? Can I run faster with light armor? Manual says nothing. Is it a pure looks/role-playing thing?

The heavier the armor the faster you will get fatigued.
So while light armor gives you the "worst" protection (other then going unarmored) it also doesn't tire you that fast.
Heavy armor offers the best protection but you'll get tired sooner.
That's why I will choose medium armor for my fighter |

Best check your Major and Minor Skills Table--if you have a Major Skill in Heavy Armor then you need to go with Heavy. |

I play Monk and unarmored. I can defeat skeleton lords without getting harmed. The bad part is that I lack the cool magical effects a armor can offer me. The good part is that I never have to bother about armor, I always get better on one primary skill "unarmored".
My friend play as a full heavy armored battlemage, and he have the constant problem with weight. He isnt strong enough to carry full armor and all his loot the same time.
Best Regards

Very true. I also play a Battlemage-level 12 now,and its a constant battle to keep armor/weapons repaired and carrying any Inventory without an encumberance penalty. If i were to start anew it certainly would not be as a Battlemage.
BTW-you did a good job on the Gothic Walkthrough. |

Light Armor is based on AGILITY Attribute, which means if you are a theif, assasin, scout or Stealth Based Character the skill will rise faster.
Where as Med & Heavy are based on Endurance (Combat Arts) and will rise slower for those chracter classes. also Fatique comes into play and encumberance.
It all basically makes since...If you are stelthy you need to move fast and use stealth type skills, Hvy armor is for In you face butt kicking, and is HEAVY,. So if you are stelthy it makes no since to run around in Plate and chain armor making all kinds of noise now does it??????? |

I think it's really cool that they use different stats for different armor classes! Very original (within my scope of experience anyway). _________________ ''Perhaps I'm old and tired but I always think that the chances of finding out what really is going on are so absurdly remote that the only thing to do is to say hang the sense of it and just keep yourself occupied. Its just a matter of having enough endurance and STR to offset the extra burden and endurance drain of Heavy armor, the "clasical" thief doesn't but hey thats one of the great things about MW. if you want to make a thief that can wear Heavy armor, go for it. |

Why light armor for a thief? The thief is a stealth class, so abilities in the stealth department will increase faster according to the manual. If I chose heavy armor, the skill increases might go so slowly as to offset any benefit to having the better armor. Not to mention it keeps my level-up multipliers concentrated on my prime attributes--agility, speed, and personality (my personal favorites). These attributes are more important for my less, erm, public skills.
As a thief, I try to avoid combat when I can. That's one of the things I enjoy about this game so far. . . you don't have to kill things to level. Granted, I haven't made it very far into the main quest, so this may change, but my general combat skills are seriously lagging behind my ability to jump, run away, and sneak around. Hopefully I'll be able to run away from most trouble.
Anyway, I love this game. I love the open-endedness. I love the fact that there are no experience points (after all, do you *really* think you get better at things by completing a quest, or do you get better by exercising your abilities *while* doing the quest?). Someday I'll get around to doing things besides breaking into peoples houses and stealing their stuff and making people like me by complimenting them--but for now I'm having a blast. |

Another thing, Loot is heavy in Morrowind... With Light armor you can carry much much more.

Thats definitely an important reason Jemy. I haven't yet used a character with heavy armor. I keep gravitating towards light armor and now I'm sort of working on unarmored, or shield and a couple pieces of light armor. You can just carry so much more junk with you if you don't have all this heavy armor. Also lighter armor does not protect as well as equivalent heavy armor but it's cheaper to buy and fix as well.
One thing that's nice is to mix two armor types, then both skills will move up in proportion. Or some pieces of armor and some areas bare. Saves a lot of weight if you get rid of the greaves and the pouldroons, but doesn't cut down on armor class too much. |

For one thing, has anyone got any glass armor yet. This armor for one this is light and I think the 2nd best armor in the game. The only armor better than this is the Dueger heavy armor. Plus yous sneak skill is greatly messed up with heavy armor, because it is based on the weight of your armor (this is true as I have tested this out) Light armor fore stealth and heavy armor for combat, but of course that is my opinion, you can do what you want |
