Black screen on game loading after cinematics |
|
I have trouble running Gothic II. The game starts up, and I get the two logo screens fine. But after the piranabyte logo, the screen turns blank; I still hear some sounds. I assume this is the gothic II splash screens. Nothing happens until i hit the mouse button, when the opening cinematics loads, although a little slowly. However, after the cinematics with the background information on the nameless hero, the screen freezes. I can hear Xardas telling me about the dragons and my quests, but the screen stays the same. I've gotten all the latest video card drivers from the NVidia websites, I've updated my windows 2000 operating system, and have the lastest version of directX, 9.0B. I also tried using the driver recommended for Geforces in the faq, and have turned of antialiasing and anisotropic settings.
My system specs are:
Windows 2000
1.5 Ghz Intel Pentium
Geforce3
256 RAM |

The game should run on your system, albeit rather slowly due to the lack of RAM.
Is service pack 4 for Win 2000 installed? _________________ Webmaster GothicDot |

Well, I installed service pack 4 and nothing happened. The game is still a black screen. Well, sometimes i get a gradient of color, like someone's cloak, but that freezes. If i keep pressing escape, Xardas will keep telling me stuff though, so it might be that I dont' have enough memory (although 256 IS the req, so it SHOULD run). The only other thing is that the opening logos overlap eachother, meaning that the screen is not refreshed before the piranabyte logo. |
