Asherons Call
World of WarCraft
Evil Islands
DragonEmpires
Call of Cthulu
Arx Fatalis

Gothic is the only single RPG I've played in a long while. And probably will be until MorroWind/Gothic2 because those types of games with such quality just dont get made a lot (last one was Ultima9).
Anyway I play Asherons Call (Thistledown) and would recommend it to everyone. Lots of fun, tons of quests, updated monthly content, always something new from month to month.
World of Warcraft (WOW): Damn, looks very hot!!
Call of Cthulu: I dunno, looks great, but only seen the screenies from off this site
Evil Islands: Another good looking game, but never heard of it until seeing the screenies from this site (again)
DragonRealms: Another one I saw from here, looks cool, maybe MMORPG, cant find any other info on it.
Arx Fatalis is looking REALLY Hot, and its already in beta, this could be a demo real soon
Anyone else play MMORPGs like Asherons Call?

I can speak only about one of them, about Evil Island. I played it (or better to say, I tried to play it).
It is nice, nice graphics, nice effects, good story. But this game is boring, boring, really boring. (But it is just my opinion)

Boring?
Mission wise, story-wise, easy to level?
too easy, too hard?
fill me in man!

Simply boring. Everything looks great but, when you try playing it... it is boring.
I do not know how to describe this - it just did not pull you in.
I tried to play for maybe for 6 hours, but then uninstalled it and now I really do not want to install it again.

5:)Call of Cthulu- just one word for it :LOVECRAAAAFFTT!!! KING OF THE HORROR! w00t!! This one will be great , but it will be more survival-horror-adventure-RESIDENT EVIL-style game than RPG.

i played asherons call when it first came out and i thought it sucked ass. they had to do alot of fixing up of that one to get me to even look at it again. (you have to fight frickin rabbits at first to get xp!!!!) i dont like the idea of losing equipment when you die either, that kinda sucks. i can understand if you lose some money or something, but armor? weapons? that sucks.

hahah DoW, this gunny is too funny

So you Like World of WarCraft or not? Sounds like a no, but who doesnt love blizzard games??? I, for one, cant wait to see if they are going to enter the 3rd gen MMORPG arena with a bang or what

Evil Islands: You like it? Some say its boring, I like the looks but dont know what its about, it might be my next quick fix...

DragonEmpires: Graphics for some reason, catch my eye, looks promising

Call of Cthulu: R.E. wannabee? say no more *Scratches off list*

I was going to add NWN to this list, but after being in production for like 3yrs...good game or not, its gonna come out the box with a dated engine (already a dead game in my book)

Asherons Call- I've played it since beta, and let me tell ya, once you understand the game, its as addictive as crack. 2+yrs Im playing and I still cant give it up. As for losing equipment on death: You only lose a small fraction of your most expensive items, which you can offset buy buying death items instead (high priced robes) that will fall instead of your gear, but to die and expect to have Everything back on your body? Lets have a *little* realism added in please.
At least its not like UO where not only do you lose every last piece of gear on you, but if you dont hurry back to your body, someone can just walk rght on up and grab it all in a matter of mins

Don't know the others,
But WOW is something I will try when it release (who knows when)

Evil Islands, is under rated. Personally, I enjoy EI a lot.

The world in EI has total freedom, you can have any angle you like.
There are three chapters, but within the chapter, no quest is linear. You can have any order you like, as long as you can finish it.

There are many parts of armor to make up your Char clothing. And any tiny change will actually shown in game, i.e. if you change a dark boot to a white boot, you can see that in your char in game. Cool )

If your arm got hit hard, you swing slow, same to the enemy.

Magic system, is interesting, most magic started weak, but you can use ruins to make it powerful. You can insert magic to you armor and weapon like Diablo Except you control what to put in. Does have limit however.

At any stage, your char is generally weak, against a group of enemies, one to one is OK. But Enemies are normally in group like in the Gothic. Very good enemy AI.

If you like to make a Tank char, and fast leveling, you may not like EI.
But you like to use the stealth element and take time to plan a surpise attack, then you will like it.

Asheron's Call is a great mmorpg. Played since beta but had to give it up due to time constraints. May have to start up again now that they have the dark majesty expansion.
Evil Islands, I liked it but your main characters voice is sooo annoying and he sounds like such a wus that it really takes away from the game. Also you find yourself hunting down every little thing that moves to get the xp and cash to improve your character.

I have a couple of things to say about Evil Islands.

First off, it is a good game, but it is verry slow paced, and majority of the enemies you face are usually more powerful than your character, thus you end up dying a lot (if you play on the normal setting). like it was stated in an artical related to the game, the Russian term for fair combat means your weaker than everyone, and this can be annoying in some parts of the game where you have to take on groups of enemies.

The quiests are not very Deep rooted, they are kind of loose, and you really don't get a rpg feel from many of them.

The graphics are great, the only downside is that you can lot change the camera angle to that of a begind the char view, whick can be bothersome at times, especially when you really want to see some of the great landscaping. The magic effects are decent for the most part, but they could have been a bit more beefed, seeing as how the engine would have definetly allowed for it.

The area that this game really DIES, is in some of the character acting, and I mean YOUR CHARACTER. he has the most irritating voice in the entire game, and that in it-self can be a big turn-off. and I'm not kidding, it is BAD, and he is the one you will be listening to through out the majority of the game. I don't know why his voice was done the way it was, but he sounds like a teen hitting puberty, and his vioce is not fitting with a lot of the dialogue.

if you Like slow paced rpg, action adventures, and you don't mind HORRIBLE voice acting for you main character, then you will most likely enfoy this tltle. And like I say, the camera works for most of the game, but it is kind of a drag that you can't get any more than a 3/4 top down view, which is fully zoomalbe, and can be rotated around the char, just not pitched freely.

But hey, it is a decent game, and if you want to try it, it's up to you.

Is Ultima 9 similar to Gothic in style?
I've seen screenshots that looked cool but heard a lot of negative things about the game. How is combat handled?
