Do you have to stick with one or the other?

Let me see if I have this right. Strength is for melee and dexterity is for ranged weapons? Right? So are you best sticking with one or the other or is doing both ok?

It is correct, however, bow and xbow do have str requirement. Other than that you only need to "focus" on one side.
But puting a 5~10 points on the other Str/Dex helps too. There are situation using melee is almost a must. Same for range weapon.

Ranged weapons are for sissies. How can you smell the fear from your enemies hiding behind some tree with a bow. How can you see the horror in a man's eyes as you cram your sword up their arse if you have a crossbow and are hiding in a cave. No my friend, strength and more strength is the answer. And after you cram your sword up someone's arse, cast the spell of resurrection on them and do it again.

hehehe, game gets so boring like that, Conan
after 2 times as swordman, is like ...*yawn*
Now when you have wimpy bow, its time to THINK before you go crammin anything anywhere
time to perch and plan, no more wading in and come out bloodsoaked. If it wasnt for bow, I couldnt play this game for 3rd-4th time...challenge would be gone
