And it is a shame the people here rewarded the publishers for their behaviour. Why should they change if they get the money anyway
Piracy is not tolerated on RPGDot because it can harm our relations to developers and publishers.
I agree
Especially PB will be happy about your behaviour, now that they have agreed we put the language mod online at RPGDot.
I'm sure PB agrees with me. I doubt they like the way the release has been handled. My actions made NO monetary difference to PB because they have already been paid for their great work.

I feel like someone should support Gorath on this (not that you need it Gorath )
Yes, Uriziel, I see your point and you are probably correct to assume that PB got every cent coming to them, and that most CD cracks are used for piracy and nothing else, but the simple fact that you're right does not change the fact that Piracy is illegal, and as Gorath stated, will only serve to worsen things, not better them. Gorath I'm sure like all of us, is a little concerned about how the publishers will react to the English translation mod, and is quick to make sure that no one thinks we tolerate questionable practices, which could endanger the mod's availability. He probably posted these warnings directly on this forum to make sure that anyone (including pubs) knows that RPGdot maintains a strict policy on such matters, not rather, to embarrass or upset the target(s) of the warnings.
@ Uriziel: Your response to this situation was bad form indeed for a 41 year-old man. You claim to NOT be some young punk behind a keyboard was negated by the rant full of profanity and sarcasm. _________________ "D'oh! I knew I should've saved sooner!" |

Still don't get it. So, according to PB, is it considered "okay" to use the mod? I remembered you strongly discouraged the use of G2 translation mod back then, and I was quite suprised you permit the use of the addon translation right now.

Not either, but both. Criminals are well deserved for such embarrassment.
Uriziel, you seemed to claim that the publishers should not be rewarded due to the lack of announcement for the release. However, will PB even consider developing the game if they did not get any financial and marketing support from the publisher? If not, to whom should we thank and reward? Think again. |

PB decided to tolerate the mod for the time being, but they reserved the right to reconsider this if/when the English add-on is released.
FYI: Some fans did a similar mod for Transport Giant. JoWooD stoped it to protect their foreign publishers. _________________ Webmaster GothicDot |

Yes. The first sign of NotR coming out in the U.S. would be a sudden new publisher they sign on with. It means they're getting ready to do some stuff. |

The situation didnīt change. PB has nothing to do with the international release. _________________ Webmaster GothicDot |

Atari already signed the distribution rights for the Gothic 2 series and they decided not to ship the addon to the United States. The decision is final, so don't expect any change unless something extraordinary happens.

Who cares about a US release? All we need is a UK release and we can still get it. A UK release is far more likely anyways. |

Thanks Gorath. I'll keep my fingers crossed. If it would happen to come out in the UK though, that is just fine for me. |

I care about the US release because I have the US version of Gothic 2 and I don't want to have to buy the UK version of both just to get the addon. _________________ OMG! WTF?! MONKEYS!!!!

If it's possible to install the German NOTR over an English Gothic 2, then I'm pretty sure it'll be possible to install a UK NOTR over a US Gothic 2.
You can't be that picky at this point, just hope it gets released in English! Who cares if you have to spend a few extra dollars!?! Sheesh! |
