Anonymous ask:
Is Ultima 9 similar to Gothic in style?
I've seen screenshots that looked cool but heard a lot of negative things about the game. How is combat handled?
Yea is almost the same , but it run crappy on any DIRECT3D card no matter how powerfull
system you have ...do you save a favour..if you gonna buy this game , buy and VOODOO 3 or higher with it , cause this one is fully glide-optimized

Haha, of the 2 people to review EI, both mentioned that guys voice. But the graphics looked so good...I dont like stealth and strategy in 3d games...pisses me off (Like Deus Ex, crap) usually leads to a lot of saving/re-loading, but those graphics...think Im gonna try it...damn Gothic has spoiled me now!!!!!
I swear if you play U9, you'll think you're playing the Gothic beta:
Same engine
Same basic Map layout
Same type of Settings (Paws is a swamp located town SE of Brittania, same wooden planks, same murky green waters)
Same type of quests (Have to get queens eggs in U9 too, same big fat immobile type of queen too)
Same exact main character voice
Same type of minute detail (individual rings shown on the ringmail, hairs on the beard, guards heads turning to watch you as you go in/out of town)
Same type of Intant journal entry when a quest begins
The ONLY difference between the two:
Gothic does all of these things flawlessly and bug-free.
U9 was a rushed job that had 4 follwing patches and even with the 4th it never lasted more than 1hr on my system without getting choppy, freezing etc...And this is after hours of tweaking the .ini with recommendation made straight from the gammakers.
I knew all of this and I still bought u9 only because I remembered playing 1-5 as a kid and wanted to see how his story wraps up.
