I found these annoying as they keep throwing fireballs at you. One technique I found successsful was to run around them in a circle avoiding the fire and gradually spirally in until you can slash them with a sword.
Anyone got any other techniques? _________________ "How are things?"

That is the technique I most often use. It is probably the most effective way of doing it. When you get close after spiralling toward the shamen, he draws his sword which gives you a free 2-3 swings of your sword. If you want to use spells, one useful one would the Block of Ice or Ice Wall... If you freeze the shamen he can't use spells. He will stay frozen for plenty of time to kill him by whatever method you prefer.
It's good to have high fire protection. The shamens are nothing compared to the Fire Lizards. The dragons will also spit fire... _________________ I am the founder and former leader of a guild in EQ, retired member of The Code in EQ, original member of KOE in AOE2, past Corporal of EVO in MOHAA, respected veteran of UT 2003, a conquerer of all decent games, and an aspiring game developer.

Outside the castle where there are Orc tents held up with ropes tied to stakes in the ground, you can jump up onto a stake and fire arrows when there are too many Orcs. Pick one that is not too high or too low and out of line with a Shaman though. _________________ "How are things?"

Orc Shamans are (relatively) weak compared to Warriors and Elite Warriors, so use ranged weapons (bows, Xbows), a few hits will bring them down. Since Shamans throw fireballs, you have to adopt hit-and-run tactics: shoot one arrow, side-step, stop, shoot one arrow...
