Gothic works fine on Win98SE (and of course also on WinME).
You forgot to enlist your complete system specs. |

I haven't gotten those since I've stopped inserting half a dozen Fire Golems in the Old Camp to take in the ensuing riot, overtaxing my memory...what on earth did you do?

I've read that with certain video cards (I don't remember which ones exactly, sorry) Gothic will give you an Access Violation on startup. There are two possibilities. Firstly; If you don't have an nVidia card, the chances are you probably just need to update to Gothic 1.08k. The patch can be found on the main Gothic.RPGDot site, it claims to fix startup problems with Win 98 SE (and probably Me, since it's just SE with eye candy). Secondly; If you DO have an nVidia card, Gothic won't work with driversets earlier than the 23.11 revision. This is because the engine utilizes things those drivers mostly aren't good at. So you should update your drivers. If you have an updated nVidia card then try the patch. It's as simple as that.
If you still have problems after that, you might want to try mailing the tech support of the publisher of Gothic in your region. Here's hoping you fix your problem, anyways.
