!!Possible Spoiler If You Haven't Played Baldur's Gate Two!! |
|
But in BGII, Minsc was kind of a loser (or tragic figure, depending on your interpretation) since he failed to protect his witch from getting killed.
I would've preferred it if she'd just gone home without him and Minsc had decided to quest some more in the West Coast region.
Here's proof of my RPG identification: (possible spoiler)
When I rescued whats-her-name (the thief/mage you grew up with) from the bottom of that dungeon, I kicked Minsc out of my party to fit her in. But then I felt so bad about leaving him stuck down the bottom of that nasty place that I went back to my save game before coming to the island, left Minsc in a bar, and fought my way back down the dungeon again!
Another similar episode was when my Paladin slept with that party member who'd had her wings cut off. It felt so out-of-character that I had to go back to a previous game and replay it!

Oh Minsc! Why didn't you just reload when she was killed??
Maybe I'll try that line: "I'm not a loser, I'm a tragic figure"
Not much of an improvement maybe.

The good thing about Minsc in BG1 was that he was so enthusiastic it kept you motivated. There was some NPC in one town that said "Well, there's a bridge to the south and a ruin to the north if you can be bothered, it's all the same really". He made me really depressed!
But in BG2 I felt too sorry for Minsc so he wasn't so much fun. |

Funny, I never got that feeling from BG2. When I saw Minsc at the beginning I was so happy because I loved him so much in the first game. And I was even more happy when I saw that he didn't come with his useless witch, like Jaheira and her unnerving sidekick... Anyway, I just had a blast with Minc's enthusiastic retorts when charging an enemy. He's the kind of character you love because of his quirkiness (sp?) and eccentricities. He's special and unique qithing the game. I found his gloominess made him even more interesting in BG2 because it added a certain element of mystery. Is he like this because he lost his loved one, or because he got an even bigger hit to the head? Anyway, thata's just me and my imagination I just loved him through and through! _________________ =Proud Father of a new gamer GIRL!=

I still say give him a pink tutu and let him play with his girbil.
You guys did see him pick up Airie (or whatever the wingless one's name was) as his new witch, right?
But you see, him dealing with females is just a job for him. He loves nothing more than to wrestle with some boys in the mud. And he's bald. And he has those funny pink designs on his face. Very "artsy."
Pink tutu, I say! _________________ (@) |

XeroX, the reason for all the Minsc/Boo enthusiasm is that Minsc is probably the most hilarious NPC of any RPG. He can be in your party in both Baldur's Gate and Baldur's Gate II. He carries a hamster (NOT a gerbil), and the great thing is that the furry companion (named Boo) is, to hear Minsc tell it, a "Miniature Giant Space Hamster." Minsc is full of very funny battle cries, which I'm not going to do justice to here, but they're wonderful.
Unfortunately, in BG2, he wasn't a good enough fighter (sort of a weird Ranger/Berserker) and I had to let him go. |

Ahhh...we are all heroes. You, Boo and I.
Hamsters and rangers everywhere!
One thing I miss in NWN is the lack of good members, especially Minsc and Boo. _________________ "If you can't get rid of the skeleton in your closet, you'd best teach it to dance."

PS Did anyone have Minsc in your party when you saw the play? It's the worst play in the world, and the understudy (named, I think, "Biff,") is terrible. What's great is, it's the greatest thing Minsc has ever seen. He goes on and on about how incredible it was. I laughed until I stopped. |

A couple more great quotes from Minsc, the greatest practical philosopher ever:
"When the going gets tough...Someone hold my rodent!"
"Look Boo, Squirrels! Throw nuts!!!"
and finally, a quote to all you space hamsters out there:
