is there any somewhat hardcore RPGs in the making?

something a lot like Ultima with expanding conversations, an open ended world like Gothic, interactive, with npcs i end up really caring about, party members who i care about and have fun with have favorites..etc.., something where your not confined in a pre generated characer mind set........something real fun where you can take over a house..etc... basically i'm wanting a real fun rpg that is at lesat somewhat hardcore and is the next Ultima really

Look into Morrowind and Arx Fatalis. not party-based (well, they're first-person at least), but very promising.

Thanks Hulk. Looks like I was mistaken. I just went out and downloaded demos for both those games to check them out. The Arx Fatalis demo is playable but I haven't installed it yet. I'll post my opinion after I play it. The Divine Divinity demo is a video that is over 5 minutes long and shows a lot of game play. I must say that I was not impressed at all. It looks like yet another Diablo type game.

I got the Divine Divinity demo from it's website.

I got the Arx Fatalis demo from File Planet. It's 151 mb.

You got the Divinity movie not the demo. The demo will be released on the 3rd of May. The video shows a lot of fighting as that is easier to show.
Trust me Divinity has the kind of world interaction that Ultima VII had. You can move, break and throw with almost any object in the environment. You can go through the game fighting but also by sneaking around and avoid fighting as much as possible.

Myrthos, you should have read my post a little better before you replied.
I clearly stated that the Divine demo is a "video".

Oh well... in my vocabulary a demo means something playable and a video is not. And I doubt the Larians would name a video a demo.

Technically it is and if I want to buy a vacuumcleaner it might even be enough. But when it comes to games I consider a demo to be something playable and a video to be a video.

Larian is the name of the company that is developing Divine Divinity. I say wait until you see reviews of Divine Divinity before you make a final judement. Personally, since the developers say they want to make this game to be similar to Ultima 7, with lots of interactivity and complexity(far more than diablo ever had)I'm really looking forward to it.

I don't see how it could be like U7 at all. You only control a single character.
