You can take an npc's inventory if you beat him unconscious but you can't if you use the sleep spell! Does that make sense?

Kinda, cause you might wake him? It does sound a little funny, but makes some sense I guess.
Maybe its a really weak spell

If that is the ONLY thing you find stupid (I presume you mean seemingly less than realistic by the term stupid in this context), then you have a VERY high stupid tolerance. BTW, I have found this game to be far less "stupid" than other games - though not perfect by a long shot in this regard. |

I see this as a sort of "fail safe" put in by developers to keep stealing from being too easy. I see where they were coming from. Also, here's another important point. Certain "big-shot" characters who are made invulnerable for a while tend to have great weapons and items. Most of these can be put to sleep, but not beaten up or killed. imagine if you could just tranquilize Gomez as soon as you have a sleep scroll, then grab Innos' Rage and use the sword as soon as you were strong enough. This would make the game too easy and disrupt certain story elements, which is why I really don't blame PB for this. |

I never even thought of what wesmjohn said. Makes perfect sense now, also from my experience with that spell, ememies dont really care when you use it, so you could get away with robbing half the OC and wouldnt have much of a problem.
