Ultima Underworld 3 Coming |
|
Twister Software, who are remaking Ultima Underworld 1 & 2 are about to develop Ultima Underword 3 - Test of Power; that is unless the most liked company in the biz (att: irony!), EA, who hold the rights on all Ultima series notices the production and stops it...The website holds a little info only and 2 wallpapers.

125 years after the Avatar died fighting the Guardian for the last time, a strange thing happened. A dark, hollow capped man exploded out of the ground killing all that where in the castle at the time including Lord British himself. Britannia is doomed or is it. A strange new temple has appeared in the sky, seeing the Anka the civilians of Britannia feel hope. An new hero is on his way.

Also, Iolo is to appear in the game and Twister Software let us know, that they have mailed EA several times to no avail...
We will bring you more info about this, stay tuned! |

It would seem that there have been problems, or the game has been cancelled, as the last progress report is now 3 years old.
I hope it wasn't simply downn to 1 company stopping the other producing it, as I don't think they have the right to spoil peoples lives
If they have stopped it thanks alot you idiots |

This newsbit you are referring to is indeed more than two years old. We are currently not aware of ny progress on this, but even years of silence have not been a safe indicator of a project's ultimate failure in our experience - you have to consider that these kinds of fan efforts are done purely in those people's spare time, usually with a dedicated team leader and a bunch of supporters that change frequently. Work on those project often rests for long stretches of time and could well be picked up at some later date.
Frankly, maybe we should remove dormant projects from our database after some time. What do you guys think? Or at least remove the ambitious '3' from the game's title? |

I dont think we should remove them, but just mark them as cancled. I suppose this project is. (will check in a minute). Maybe we should be more carefull in adding projects to the db. Not until they have proven some kind of continuancy.
The case with this project is a bit different than other remake projects* we cover, as Twister Software presented itself as a professional, full time studio. The website has been down for about 10 months now, but hasnt been removed or offerd for sale. Havent got much hope, but you never know.

* Like LoW, that is a good example. The guy seems to work on the project only when he is between jobs... _________________ Frank 'Parcival' Rieter-Lambers

Yes, its marked canceled.
I just noticed the site is still down, but not in the way it used to (had an under construction sign; now it look like its realy under construction). I slipped them a note to ask if they are still alive.

I think there are two websites - http://www.twistsoft.co.uk/ is the other one (as opposed to http://www.twistedlabs.com/), and that still displays the sign you remember. |
