Patch and difficulty slider

Well, i installed the patch. The first thing i wanted to try was the difficulty slider. I wanted to see what a big difference it made. I just started a new game. So, i haven't fought any of the tough creatures yet. But, i remember reading a post that said they got killed by the mudcrabs when the slider was puched to the max. I experimented with the slider. First at 50% then 75, then finally 100. I haven't noticed a difference yet. Granted, i have only fought the basic creatures at the start. I was jsut worried that maybe mine didn't patch right or something. It only took a couple of hits to kill the mudcrabs at the start. Should i still be that easy? Or am i worrying about nothing? What have your experiences been so far? Thanks.

It probably is due to your level. I've noticed quite a difference just going from 0 to -10 at L11 with middling weapon skills.

Two things to remember about the slider however. It does NOT affect magic, that is a separate system, so your spell damage will not change, nor will theirs.
The second is rather counter-intuative (for me at least) If your goal is to level SLOWER as a melee class, slide the difficulty DOWN. Since # of hits is what increases your skill, and therefore levels, if you can kill them in three hits VS. five, you will have to kill 50% more before a weapon skill increase, they have to hit you more for an armor increase. This can be a great advantage if you want to allow your other skills like magic or some of the thief skills to keep pace without deliberately going on "leveling" jaunts. (In several of Vivec's cantons I am almost worshipped due to trips solely going around admiring everyone there, what a bore)

it's tough

Well, it is quite a bit harder. I went in the cave that had the slaves. I have noticed that it is quite a bit harder. I enjoy it ore now. The battles are longer. I'm just having a hard time deciding where i want the slider. I had it at 100. But, i was getting killed after one or two hits. I have it down to 50 now. That seems to be working fine. I'm trying to find the right balance. I want the game to be harder. But, at the same time, i don't want to level fast. I want to take my time.

I that case you might also want to get one of the mods that reduce the leveling speed, there are a few out there. They increase the amounts of uses needed to increase the skill. You can also adjust that yourself in the editor.
