Lionheart: Review @ GamePlasma

Thanks to Tim from GamePlasma for sending us a note regarding their 'Lionheart' review. They awarded Reflexive's/Black Isle's alternate history RPG a score of 6.6 out of 10 points.
From the makers of Baldur’s Gate and Icewind Dale, brings you yet another great RPG –- Lionheart! Lionheart is an RPG in a similar style to a mix between Baldur's Gate and Diablo. It takes factual medieval history and turns it on its head. The premise: During the Crusades, holy relics were unwittingly used to unleash an evil upon the world. After this event, dubbed the "Disjunction," many creatures such as goblins and trolls sprang up to terrorize the countryside, and magic became all too real. Instead of religious heretics, the Spanish Inquisition now spends time hunting down those that practice illegal heretical magic, while the Knights Templar try to maintain order as most of Europe comes apart at the seams. Is this the game for you though? Read on to find out!

arg, every 1 should know by now that it was Bioware who made Baldur's Gate and it was published by Interplay / Black Isle ... then Black Isle made Icewind Dale, Planescape Torment and Lionheart!

The game has Black Isle on the box, so for me it is a Black Isle game. It doesn't really matter who the developers are. If they want to associate their name with dreck, that's their perogative. The normal consumer is going to think that it's a Black Isle game. Bioware developed KOTOR, doesn't mean it isn't a Lucusarts game.

It says 'from the makers of'. They are not the makers of BG, although they did have their influence, so the statement is false. Games get published by different publishers in different countries. According to your views, who's game it is just depends on which country you happen to live in and who the publisher is. Gothic must be an Egmond Interactive game and Gothic 2 a Jowood game then and it's not a Piranha Bytes game.

Not really. Black Isle are a developer, not a publisher. The fact that their name is on the cover shows that they consider part of Lionheart their's. If a game was publisher with the name Piranha Bytes, a DEVELOPER, I would also think they had something to do with it.

Not true. Black Isle Studios has been used to publish the RPG titles of Interplay (which is the company owning BIS). Amongst them were ofcourse the BG series. BIS had the knowledge and the manpower to do this and did the QA and all the other things a publisher does.
They publihsed reflexive's Lionheart and have some manpower invested in that game, not only to QA but also in development and production.
Besides that BIS is also a developer of RPGs.

As a publisher their name is on the box, so is Reflexive's name. All publishers put their name on the box. It would be silly not to do that and of course BIS consider Lionheart partly theirs. They funded the game.

A publisher is not "the maker of", regardless of how big their name on the box is.
