Un-enlightened questions after having finished Arx |
|
Things were probably explained somewhere during the game, but my attention span is notoriously short and thus I tend to daydream while dialogues and cutscenes etc. are scrolling over my screen. Usually I wake up when the action restarts only to discover later on that I didn't get some stuff. Like...
1) Why do Ylsides explode when killed?
2) Is 'Ylside' a race or an occupation?
3) Is Kultar an Ylside or did he just pretend to be one or why else does a guy run around with a neat triangle on his forehead?
4) Why do chicken explode when killed? _________________ Jaz |

Kayla does the same thing! She just clicks through the dialogue muttering "Yeah, yeah...whatever...". I'm forever lecturing her about all the effort developers put in to these things...
Ylsides are the religious devotees of Akbaa, I thought. Kultar was previously an Ylside but got scared and decided he didn't "like" Akbaa. I have no idea why they explode (because they can?). Maybe I didn't pay enough attention, either . |

I think the Ylsides explode as a way of sending their energy to Akbaa when they die. Dhruin is right about Kultar, and besides you needed a traitor to survive the trap they set for you. As for Chickens, I think the explosion is the result of someone who never hit a live chicken with an ax. They should have spent a little time on the farm before drawing that kill sceen, but is does lend to the drama of the hunt to have them fly up and fall over like that is almost slow motion. |

Thank you, folks. I thought perhaps Ylsides were relatives of Arx chicken. And I read somewhere Ylsides were something like mercenaries, but I don't have the slightest idea if the author was just making it up. _________________ Jaz |
