What about pacifists?

I was just wondering, is it possible to finish the game without killing anybody or anything? (well, make exception for cliff racers, they deserve to die!)

No. You must enter dungeons and you must kill some people or undead in these dungeons to get what you need to continue.

I've tried paralyzing and pickpocketing... but it doesn't work in most cases. If you want to complete the game you have to be one bad mofo.

Such is life in a fantasy CRPG.

this is really an interesting question. i think that you might be able to pull of being a pacifist...except for under extreme cirumstances you really can avoid killing in MW (i haven't finished MW but i assume you have to kill the end guy). couldn't you use invisibility spells to sneak around dungeons and pickpocket people that had items you needed. also, in town a slick tounge goes a long way. i don't think this would be my choice of play...but, if someone was really patient and saved alot they might just be able to pull of a pacifist life style in MW. however, you definetely couldn't join the fighter's guild or Mora Tong.

Pacifism and War

Managed to pull off DX without killing one person. Why not this?

PS. Excuse me, I've been stricken by Deus Ex-itis. I should be cured in 5 hours, then maybe I'll play Morrowind again.

So far, I have encountered two NPCs who must be killed in order to advance the storyline, although from what I've read, the part I've been delaying involves quite a few more (four?) I'll see when I get there if there is any way around it. My total (NPC) death count is under 20, there were 10 characters (I just counted) where I chose to be the executioner when asked and a few more where it was an ambush where I felt no guilt protecting myself.

But you can play in the game world indefinitely without ever completing the main quest I believe. Also I've never taken the Temple's "pilgrim" role very far, although my second character is working on that approach - it may be if you avoid joining any of the Great Houses that option will present itself. All the "required" killings I've seen have involved removing someone from power who cannot be made to relinquish it any other way. Maybe it's too bad there's no media to stir a public outcry, but no mechanism for that was included in this world.

I don't think so

I think you must kill a few npc's following the main quest. Two that I can think of right off are during the Nevaterine portion; Horatator alone involves killing at least two...or is it four? maybe more. Not to mention countless others throughout.

Also, I never tried but with the enemies, cliff racer for example, can you pick pocket. Just wondering because in a couple quest you have to kill to get items. I was wondering if you could sneak or go invisible to steal the item instead.
