riddles and houses

are the riddles and "safe" houses important to finishing the game?

1st house found on side road to Arnika, then another on road to Trynton. Do I need to finish a task, answer riddle or something else?

1st riddle found in 2nd burrough (ok maybe 3rd) of Trynton has to do with time changes, etc,,,

You'll find a use for them if you do quests for the Umpani and T'Rang.

Very useful, but not critical, to answer your question. You'll probably wind up getting there at an unexpected time.

As for the riddle, it gives a little boost to your party, but has no bearing on any quest. Next time you're at that fountain, think back to this post and you just might recall the answer.

How 'bout that one folks? Some days I'm just sooooo clever.

Dteowner-I'll give you a lot of credit for cleverness on that one. I didn't remember the answer to the riddle when I posted above, but your clue brought it right back to mind.

Don't worry- that pretty well shoots my cleverness allotment for the year. We now return you to your regularly scheduled bonehead.

Well, the way I figure it, one of three things happened in Wiz8 as riddles go:

1) I got much smarter. Highly unlikely.
2) Wiz8 gave more clues than most RPGs do. Yes, but no clues on the fountain.
3) the Wiz8 riddles are easier than usual. Don't know- they're always easy when you happen to stumble on the answer.

Actually there is another possibility: Wiz8 accepts multiple answers to the same riddle. For example: flesh/skin, brain/mind, Dark Savant/astral dominae. So you're not fighting to read the programmers mind exactly.
