Beast keeps killing me!!

I can't seem to find the machine I am supposed to stick some sort of dedicated stone (I already have that) in, in order to squash an otherwise unkillable beast.

Would somebody please tell/show me where that !@#$% machine is and where to stick the ratched stone so I can enjoy to play Arx any further - can't seem to get past this Beast!!!

It seems that you don't need a machine to kill the beast. As you run from the beast, you will eventually come to a room with some machinery (which is the smashing thing you were asking about in your post). Exit through the tonel on yuor right that leads to an office room. There pull a lever and wait for a beast. it will show up soon. Outmaneuvre him ahd return back to the room with the smasher. There is a lava pool covered with grades, and next to it - a lever on the wall. Pull the level - it will now remove the grades protecting from the lava. Jump over the pool and wait for the beast to see him walk into the lava and finally die.
