Sisters of Mercy - This Corrosion

@Graham: Thanks for turning me on to Dragonforce!

I have a metal specialty shop around the corner, that has all the most obscure titles in stock. They had Valley Of the Damned, and a newer looking one. My impression thus far is pretty good, my complaints so far are basically that most the songs on the cd sound sorta the same, and the placement of the ballad song is atrocious. Into the middle of a bunch of heavy songs, suddenly a sappy piano-driven ballad? Dont get me wrong, I like ballads well enough, but not in the middle of a metal assault. Save it for the end, or even open with it. For now, Im just skipping this track entirely.

On their own, the songs are strong, and the musicians definitely know what they are doing, they have a post-modern speed metal Rush-like sound to them. Unfortunately, they dont have as much of the downtuned gloomy speed metal death hum that I enjoy so much, they are pretty upbeat. Thus, points subtracted. We cant go having upbeat happy-sounding music now, before long I'll start smiling or something.
