Kult: v1.3 Patch @ Worthplaying |
|
Worthplaying has a new patch (6Mb) for 3D People's 'Kult: Heretic Kingdoms', taking the game to v1.3. It appears the patch originated from US distie Merscom but is hopefully also compatible with the original P3 Interactive European version. Here's part of the patch notes:
Kult: Heretic Kingdoms v1.3

decreased loading times
less in-game memory usage
improved memory management
added mod support
Kult: Heretic Kingdoms v1.2

- fixed accidental crash with camping plus savegame
- fixed crash when opening the quest window
- fixed not disappearing HexMark in Vale of Tears
- fixed a few movement map problems
- fixed a few minor graphic problems

The following -UNSUPPORTED- features are also in this patch:
- it is now possible to alter the resolution and color mode.
In the config.cfg you can find gr_resolution and gr_color, which both can be changed.

Valid resolutions are:

gr_resolution= 1 for 1024x768 (default)
gr_resolution= 2 for 1280x960
gr_resolution= 3 for 1600x1200
gr_color can be 16,24 or 32
Extreme zooming out in higher resolutions can cause slowdowns and we recommend against doing so!!

- fixed gameplay on Windows 95/98/Me. This is how to enable play on these OS:
Change font display from ttf to graphical.
(you can switch graphical and ttf fonts in the config.cfg file, gr_font= 1 is
for graphical, gr_font= 0 for ttf, default is ttf)

Kult: Heretic Kingdoms v1.3

it now is possible to open 2 containers at once, so you can easily transfer items from one container to another
you can sell/buy things directly from container to shop and vice versa
fixed crash with throwing away container and saving that map
fixed Diviner's rod visibility
fixed Kyallisar zombie dialogue bug in spanish version
fixed warlord attunements in spanish version
fixed dialogue bugs (Madame Zoftig, Udric, arena guard, Sura war master)
fixed maximum level (31)
fixed changing weapon element to none
fixed weapon/item element when dropped and taken back
fixed memory usage
We recommend to start over with the game after installing this patch, since your previous saves will not be repaired. We are real sorry for the inconvenience.

First a typo, not on RPGDot, but on the quote from worthplaying. You'll notice that it lists version 1.3 fixes, then 1.2 and then 1.3 at the bottom again. This bottom section is the 1.1 fix list. This typo does not exist in the text file I got with the 1.3 patch from 3dpeople, there it is correctly listed as 1.1. This might be important as the text there recommends starting a new save game, and this may not be necessary if your savegame was already created by 1.1 or later.
Second, this is not the official patch - yet. Reading the Kult forums the other day I noticed posts about the loading slowdown fixed in 1.1 being re-introduced in 1.2. This has been fixed in 1.3, but the patch is not out yet. However if you e-mail 3dpeople (which I did) they will share the pre-release patch with you. I suspect that the file worhtplaying is offering is this same pre-release 1.3 patch. I have not had trouble with it, but anyone downloading it has a right to know where it came from and if it is Official or not. So now you know. |

Mhm, patch 1.3 includes all patches, so in fact it is correct But the first section would be enough indeed... But I think this is the mistake of the guy, who was sending out the info, not Dhruin's, right?
Additionaly, this is official patch, just Merscom did faster website update than Project 3... On Kult's website it is available every moment now with additional mirrors...
At last, this patch is compatible with Kult's EU version - the same patch applies for US and EU ... |

Little late for this patch. The game is way to short with almost no replayabilty. I finished it long before the first patch ever came out. They should be working on an expansion pack instead. |

I hope they will make a sequel or an expansion with the same engine, the game now runs really good, load fast and I have no problems with it at all |
