How to enable pixel shaders? |
|
I've uninstalled and reinstalled Morrowind two or three times now, without every seeing a configuration screen with an option to enable pixel shaders. I have started the game using the desktop icon, the direct file in Explorer, and the AutoRun file on the CD, but all of them go directly into the game, without pausing for configuration.
Where do I find the program or configuration item that enables pixel shaders? What program do I start with?
Separately, has anyone figures out what line in Morrowind.ini (in the installation directory) controls pixel shaders? If so, could you copy it out in your reply?
Thanks for any help. . . . my specs below.

Go into the Morrowind Folder. Instead of using Morrowind.exe use the one called Morrowind Launcher. Go to options. |

Thanks for the answers. I tried the Morrowind Launcer program, but it didn't bring up any kind of configuration options: instead, it just runs the program directly. Weird!
I did figure out what to edit in the ini file to enable pixel shaders:
[LightAttenuation]
UseConstant=0
ConstantValue=0.0
;
UseLinear=0
LinearMethod=1
LinearValue=3.0
LinearRadiusMult=1.0
;
UseQuadratic=1
QuadraticMethod=2
QuadraticValue=16.0
QuadraticRadiusMult=1.0
;
OutQuadInLin=0
If you change UseLinear to 1 and UseQuadratic to 0, no pixel shaders. But if you do it as above (uselinear = 0, and Use Quadratic = 1), pixel shading is on, and everything looks great.
Still can't figure out why the Launcer program doesn't work for me. Thanks again,
