Everybody is jumping all over shifter and I agree with him to a point. He is just trying to keep people playing without cheating so they can get the experience of the game with the challenge that was met.
I agree with lots of the "cheaters" though in the sense that they might have made a bad mistake and would like to fix it or they just don't care and want a kick ass character and kill everybody. Well have fun. I recommend beating the main quest first, for the thrill of it then cheat all you want, but of course do what you want.
I had tostart a whole new character because I made some bad mistakes and cheating would have saved alot of time, but I will not worry about it because I don't like to cheat nor intend to. I do not have a problem with cheating because some people don't have the time to play like I do and they should not be pentalized for only having a couple hourse or so because this game requires alot of time. I have to play a whole freakin day just to get my sneak and security where I want it, just to continue on. I don't care though, because it is fun. It is boring to others, so by all means do what you got to do.
Leave Shifter alone though, he does have good intentions and wants you to enjoy the game.
That is my advice, if you want to jump on me for it, do it, but I still want you to enjoy the game what ever it is you do. |

If I gave off the impression of getting on Shifter's case that was not my intention. I thought we were talking about cheating in games and why there is valid reason to do it sometimes. I was not just talking necessarily about Morrowind, but games like quake or command and conquer. Frankly I have not even gotten my copy of MW yet so I cannot comment on whether I will cheat or not. I am thinking right now cheating in MW will come around for me when I want to test something in the game after I have beaten it a couple of times. To have certain tasks done, but not others, that type of thing. |

I'm also waiting for the editor. Not because i want to cheat, but because i really messed up on my skills, and the way they contradict with the race i am playing. It's so bad that at level7, i tried like 30 times to beat the "bloodbath" quest, and failed. I still haven't beat it. It's just impossible. Plus it took some time before i understood the leveling system, so i have stats that are in many cases only 5 points higher than when i started, when they could be 25 points! (I'm talking the stats which have major skills based on them.) So i realise that in order to beat the game, i have to spend an eternity doing pointless stuff, like firing fireballs into the air, to level up enough to keep up with the challengens. I created a character that after 3 hours of play is already almost as good as my level7, and he's only barely level2!
It's not cheating in my case, but i've played over 50 hours, and don't feel like doing the same quests again, just to get to the point where i was. There's a lot of running around, that i don't care to repeat. It was fun the first time, but I won't enjoy it the second.

It's not his place to do that. If anything, a comment along the lines of "When I cheat at a game, it loses all it's fun for me." Would be apropriate. Telling someone how to play a single player only game is just silly.
Good intentions I'm sure, but it still isn't Shifter's place to imply that people are playing the game wrong, which is how I would have interpreted his first post. |

Well back to the whole editing your character. Like many people have done, I have also and that is do the wrong thing with my chara and having to start over. Instead of having to just sit around and work on your skills for like 2 whole days, you can use some cheat codes that are now being posted around the web. Something like 'player->COMMAND'
I did use some of it but never use that on your major or minor skills because that will just be less levels you will gain in the long run. Of course you can just edit your level, but that is never fun. If you really want to just get ahead a little bit, just use the cheat command got get a few thousand gold and pay for your skills up to where you are happy and you get your levels at the same time, and you are hapy.
Like I said just do a google search for morrowind cheats and you will get info to do any single edit of your character you can think of. So have fun. |
