I really don't like the cartoon-character look of the enemies. That approach to finding a market will have a large audience, I am sure. But it is clear I am not in their target demographic. Getting.... too...old..... help! |

I'm getting old too, but I kind of like the cartoon\manga look. UXO is shaping up to look a bit like WoW, and that's not a negative point for me. Looks aren't everything, anyway _________________ =Proud Father of a new gamer GIRL!=

Aye, I've thought the same thing. Looks rather cartoony and I'd prefer that it's not.
But I think I can get used to that though.
The graphics are not bad or ugly (in my opinion) and even hold a certain charm if I tune in to it.
For me it's a bit like playing Anarchy Online - which I'm doing right now - I prefer a fantasy setting but if I tune in into the sci-fi world and accept that it's different I can actually enjoy the game for what it's worth.
I think it will be the same with UXO, so I'm not too worried |

I agree, they aren't everything. But that cartoon look is one thing I have trouble taking seriously. There is no doubt, however, that it is a driving force in video games today. I suppose there are also classic examples of the past that take a similar approach and were succesful. Some occured when I was young, but I had no interest in them at that time, either. I think that my interest in 'cute fantasy' terminated with the Smurfs.
Its not a huge concern for me, however, as several other titles are taking less of the "munchkin land" fantasy approach. I just find the "slicing cuties with swords" approach to fantasy to be difficult to attach to in an emotional way. Its good that there is something out there for differing tastes. |

Even though they use cartoony graphics, i like UXO for reasons OTHER than the graphics. since i prefer realism graphics like in EQ2 and even SWG. The reason i like UXO is for all the quests and abilities. I dont especially like the cartoon crap. never did. realism is far cooler, because its... umm... more realistic, and so i can immerse myself into the gameworld far easier. I consider Morrowind graphics as being realistic. But most traditional console RPG games make me wanna puke at the graphics... too cartoony. If it wasnt for the UXO quest system, i wouldnt be playing it at all. But i am, so that figures... |

I'm not getting WoW either. I've never played any of the Warcraft games, so it doesn't appeal to me in the least.
Ooops...ok back on track...Did you see how the chunks flew off the lizardman when he was hit...I like that effect. |
