Gig: As for fantasy armor, pretty much the same goes for males. When playing AD&D I always wondered how some guys in some pics actually got their armor class, wearing fur briefs and nothing else ...

That's kinda true, there was no shortage of barbarian types. Still, I found plenty of pictures of men in all the categories, from fur briefs all the way to black knight types with no flesh at all exposed. It's a fantasy art archetype in particular, I found lots of science fiction art with women in practical body armor or reasonable clothing.

I'm not criticising the art form at all, I'm just commenting on my frustration trying to find a picture to represent me. I started looking for a picture to use as an avatar at about 100 posts. That was about when I realized that I might actually be here long enough to make 300 posts. If I had wanted a male or a topless (or bikini clad) female archer I'd have been happy on the first day. As a matter of fact, I found about 30 pictures that I liked on renderosity, just not any dressed female archers. As it was, I didn't find my pic until post 274 and by then I was willing to show a little cleavage.

I don't want to sound like a militant 'art is exploitation' type, because I'm not. Artists love the human form so it tends to be reflected in their art, I know that. I don't have a problem with the way fantasy women are represented. I love fantasy and romance book cover art. All that skin is sexy, no doubt about it and the romantic settings make the illustrations just breathtaking. However, I still cling to my observation that it's easier to find a fantasy picture of a dressed male than it is to find a dressed female. Peace?

I actually did find a great picture of a mounted woman in full plate armor. I was going to use a detail of it if I wasn't able to find an archer. She looks really proud and noble, a true knight. I liked it so much that I kept it, so if anyone's looking for an avatar...

You are speaking the truth, Gig. It was my exact reason for not to chose a female avatar at first - I found none I felt comfortable with!

Now, though, that I made me one (oh, I just hope Rendelius will put it up soon ), it's different...

Thanks Val, of course you like the title - since it was you who dubbed me thus... ! I'll be eternally grateful .

Btw, Jackal knows all about it - he took part in the photo session along with Seraphia...!

All I can see is a box with the word "image" in it and it's only on Jaz' new pic!

Not fair!

Thanks Val, the ISP has been dropping me all day and one of the drops caused my browser to dump its settings. I was only pulling images out of cache.

They really are! I especially like the war paint, it's a terrific touch.
