Tutorial to add new areas? |
|
Anyone willing to write a little tutorial like Zeiss' excellent "How To Make A New Object" tutorial, but instead of adding an object, walk us through adding a door into a mountain side and a small cave/hide-out behind it? From Ziess' tutorial I was able to make most of the quest items that I need for my new quest, but I'm kind of clueless when it comes to adding new areas. I've looked, and I somewhat understand the process that they use to get from the door into the "Internal" area, but from there I'm lost, so I'm hoping that someone here will be kind enough to help us noobs out in this respect like Zeiss did with his great tutorial.

Adding a new area... assuming you want an enterior zone...
Go to 'World' / 'Interior Cell...'
Click 'NEW'
Type in a name (if it is in a city, i suggest following morrowinds idea... *CITY NAME*, *Name of the interior* i.e. 'Balmora, Fascion's Pub and Inn')
NOTICE: The name of the cell will appear when you look at the door!
After your interior cell area is created... find it in the list of cells (in the Cell View window) and open it.
Procede to intert an interior room, which can be found in the 'Static' tab... All interiors are labled as 'in_***'
Creating doors:
First you need to find a door that you like, and that fits... These can be found in the 'Doors' tab
Create the door, and insert it into the proper place.
Now, double click the door to acees the Door's proporties.
In the 'Reference Data' Check the box next to 'Teleport' then proceed to selecting your interior cell.
now, click 'Select Marker' DO NOT CLOSE THE DOOR PROPORTIES YET... as sometimes the marker goes invis when you close the menu.
Move the arrow that is selected in front of the door in your interior cell. Make sure its pointed in the right direction, and the whole arrow is above ground.
Proceed to do the same thing on the interior door, and more the exterior marker into place. (teleport option set to the zone you wish it to take you to.)
That help? *prays* _________________

It's actually quite easy once ya figure it out:
1. Go to the exterior cell you wish to link the dungeon to
2. Select the "Door" tab and drag and drop a door which you would like to use to the render window.
3. Place the door where you would like it to be.
4. Double click on the door it will bring up a properties page
5. Select the Teleport check bow which is on the right hand side of the properties page and about half-way down
6. From the pull down list select your dungeon cell
7. Click the "select door marker" button this will load the dungeon into the render window.
8. Your door marker should now be listed in the cell window on the right hand side under "objects"
9. Select your door marker
10. Click the render window title bar and hit C to center the door marker in the window
11. Move the doormarker to where you want the character to appear at when he enters the dungeon, also make sure that it points the way you want the character facing
12. Go back into the door's tab and select a door for the inside of the dungeon, drag and drop it to the window and arrange it where you want it to be.
13. Repeat Steps 4-11 so that you tell it where to go into the outside world.
There ya go, easy as punch and pie .
