Please Help Nice People, I Need a Saved Game

Disaster! The power supply on my computer failed and my computer was wiped clean and I have to start from scratch. Well, one of the many things I lost was Gothic 2. Before the big crash I was playing a paladin in chapter 4 before any encounter with the dragons. Does anyone have a savegame close to this point? Of course, "beggers can't be choosers" so I'll kindly accept any class and even Chapter 3 would be fine (I just don't feel like starting over from scratch).

Please let me know if you can help. Oh, by the way, I'm playing the UK version 1.31.
Thanks

I donīt know why but people are usually reluctant giving away savegames.

Guess it's time to make a Gothic 2 savegame for download.

Love to help, but I don't have the game.

I can understand why someone might be reluctant to give away a saved game for an rpg where the party is unique to the player. After all, there is a type of unique ownership to a party generated in such a game.
But in Gothic 2 that is surely not the case. The only difference between the "hero" from one person's game to another person's game at any point in the game is the amount of experience points. The equipment is not varied enough to make a difference.
So, I am still hoping for an offer.

Well ... i dont really mind giving away a savegame; but i simply dont have a savegame that is in chapter 3 ... i got 1 end chapter1 (level15 paladin, 30% 1hand, orcslayer) and i got a couple saves end chapter5 (just before sailing off) ...

But i guess you're not interested in these ...

Hey Larry

I am playing the UK version as well, version 1.31.
if you still need help..I can send you a save game in chapt 3.
But I am still playing a merc.

Unless if you want a save point where I call it DECISION save. That is still in chapter 1 where I have completed all the side quest for Khorinis and Onar camp and killed many of the creatures. Not the tough ones though as in chap 1....you are still pretty weak.

That save is basically my save for a starting point to either join the Paladin, Merc or mage.

Keep me inform.
Also, FYI..I have no experience in sending a save file to another person so if I messed up the first time, you have to excuse me.
I don't know how large is 1 save file and I am lousy at zipping.

Give me your decision and I;ll see what I can do

It will cost you 2 lump of ore.
A nice hunk of cheese and 5 fried meat will suffice.
Also a donation of 50 gold pieces to the chuch of adanos to help the needy.

I wouldn't mind handing out my savegames at all (doesn't matter if it's a party or single character RPG), however, the only G2 savegames I still have are all based on the German version (v2.50 thanks to the add-on).

Thanks everyone for your replies and offers!
Genghiskhan66, I'll take you up on your offer for the Chapter 3 Merc saved game. I've set up an e-mail account as follows: larrythebold@burntmail.com.
Good luck on the technical side; I counting on you!!
It would be kind of neat if a series of saved games in different chapters and for the different classes could be made available on the site. Then people could try all 3 classes without having to go through the long chapter 1 each time.

Thanks again
p.s. The way I cook, you would not want to eat my fried meat!

Hey Larry

I will work out something and send you the file by today if possible.

As for the save files for member download...it maybe difficult.
Other members, plse correct me if I am wrong. But from what I've seen, some player join a guild at level 8-10 and some members join a guild only after level 12-15.

When a standardized 3 guild save files are posted......at what level should those save files be ?
And even with members downloading these save files...most of them will have no idea what quest is done and what animals are slayed....becoz some quest are not listed in the quest log....it only give you XP when done and will not even be mention in the journal.

So I think in that sense..it might be difficult.
But than again, I believe some people don't mind that
So, on another hand, those save files maybe helpful for those who really need them.

Just a thought in my over inquisitive mind

Athough I already thanked genghiskhan66 in a private posting, I want to thank him openly in the forum for not only sending me one saved game, but sending me a second one as well!

Clearly a good bunch of people world wide play rpgs and many subscribe to this forum.
