Anything you drop anywhere stays there.
Using chests/lockers/caskets is good for things the game won't let you drop. _________________ If thousand-year-old family traditions are so important to you, why do you have indoor plumbing and electricity in your family's house? |

Like all of the freaking keys, keycards and all of the other miscelaneous stuff that the game keeps dumping on you and forcing you to keep, even after you've used them. Before I found out I could drop things in chests, I had a full collection of IUF Security cards clogging up my inventory. |
