I think its part of an blades quest, you find it in a Dagoth Ur shrine somewhere in the ashlands. Dont know where exactly... |

Mucksponge is a plant... Muck comes out of mucksponge. Apothecaries and Alchemists like the stuff.

Mucksponge can also be found next to a house in Gnisis.
There are several big white round sponge looking things next to a house in the middle of Gnisis. Those are mucksponges and you can collect from them for free. |

They look like giant (as tall as you) light colored urns, if that helps. They're all over the place. |

Fort Moonmoth is the one by Balmora and has no mucksponges near it, so I'm guessing it's the other one.
