In Game Woes...Let's hear your experiences! |
|
Just wanted to start a thread where we can all talk about strange experiences and/or frustrating errors we have made in our quest to level up and survive . The idea is to let others learn from our mistakes and to assist each other with different ideas of how to go about certain quests in the game.
Me first:
Caius told me he doesn't have anything for me anymore, and to build my cover a little more with the Fighter's Guild. I go to the head guildmaster of the fighter's guild (some woman name Fire Eye or something like that). She gives me this quest to go get a codebook back from a thief guild member in the Southwall Club in Baldor. After trying to talk the thief into letting me have the codebook, (I tried persuasion, bribes - none to any avail), I decided to attack her since my mission was to get the book at any cost. I ended up having to kill every single person in the club (a pretty large task - there was about eight of them or more) some of which where those Tiger People; real tough fighters. Luckily I just backed up the stairs and kept some restore health potions flowing with the quick keys. After all that, I get the codebook off of the thief's corpse and notice as soon as I leave the club that the guards are chasing me. (I had a 1100 bounty on my head, and only about 700 in gold on me). I sneaked back to the Fighters Guild thinking I would receive praise from the guildmaster for getting the codebook back. (She told me to retrieve it any way I can). The bitch now tells me I'm a thug who is tarnishing the reputation of the guild!! I had to sell a Glass Dagger that was worth 4000 gold at a pawn shop (all I could get was 1800 for it) so I could afford to pay the fines for my "crimes". The same crimes that the guild master told me she would "take responsibility for". She basically tells you to go kill this person, because she knows that this thief would not give me the codebook alive. She also chews you out if you question her about the orders. She says, "I will take all responsibility!" I can't believe this. Avoid this quest if possible if you don't want to have trouble with the thieves guild all through the game. Funny thing is, I'm on a quest now where I have to go get information from a member of the Thieves guild. I bet that one is going to go over well!!! HEhe....
Good luck fellow adventurers! Looking forward to reading some of your experiences here. |

I used a scroll spell on this woman, one of which I can't recall it's exact name or effect but to tell you that it served to "stun" her momentarily. Some form of Charm or Command spell. This let me pickpocket her. She immediately cursed and attacked me then... giving me the right to defend myself without all the others getting into the fight. I slaughtered her and took that damned code book and bid the imperial guard outside "good day" as I left. |

Hi,
I"m a new player who is in balmora. The fighers guild has given me a quest to get some code book from scottilde but i'm too new to take on the entire theivs guild. I've tried intimidating and taunting her aquireing sucesses on both; however she doesn't respond to either of these. I have waited for her to make her move but she doesn't. Anyone have some pointers?
thanks in advance

In order to get an NPC to attack you, you need to have five successfull taunts in one conversation.
You know that you have taumted them enough when the only option left is to say goodbye...
TIP: reposition the conversation window, so that taunt is placed directly above the persuation option and just click, click, click.
No need for Speechcraft here... |

I built up my Sneak and used a Chameleon item or spell, and pickpocketed it off her. |

You need to get her to like you, increase her disposition by bribe, if you can. Once it's sufficiently high, she'll give it to you. Or you could taunt her into attacking you, or steal, like it's been suggested above. More on the quest can be found here
Talking about annoyances, escorting NPCs across vast distances is mildly irritating _________________

Try anything but violence, I tried to attack her too and everybody in the house jumped on me. I survived the encounter but the bounty was 7,000 and the next officer that saw me told me I was sentenced to death. Very nice armor too those guys have!
I am about to try again thru the bribe method and see what happens. The payoff is not worth it, I was only paid 50 for the code book, quite a waste. As for reputation, she won't care as long as you give her the book (it carries a promotion too). _________________ Pedro

My pretty uncharismatic Nord barbarian bribed her and she gave him the book. Worked quite well. _________________ Jaz |
