I'm reading this walkthrough and t says after i defeat the stone,ice,and fire gloems that when i enter this big black building that a demon should be here, i see no demon, what did i do wrong?

You've entered the area to early. You must have the quest to seek out Xardas before the demon will be there.

Yes! he will tell you to find Xardas, but only after you found and brought him all the 5 focus stones

Are you sure its the right tower. There are lots of towers around that place. Did you pass the golems on the way to it.
