How can you open the main gate of the old castle?

Look at the gate from inside castle. On the wall right from gates stands guard specified as gate guard or sth like that. Climb there and after accepting before Torlof`s quest (for Paladin: somebody told me that for Merc this quest is given by Benet) talking to this gate guard an option with stealing key should appear. Key openes door next to this guard and inside is right lever to complete job (nice cinematic and some Exp as reward - if You kill all in the castle and then all attackers you should get circa 18000 Exp).

Thx Bora!

But I'm in chapter 2 right now so that option isn't available now, I'll just keep playin until I get the quest to do so

No problem. Really glad I could help. Btw long road ahead of You till that moment. I will just say it may be done in chapter 5 and nothing more not to spoil fun. Good gaming.

Well, I still disagree, Chapter 2 is still boring to me. Chapter 4 and 5 however, are great! I can't stand sneaking around, but on the other hand, I love fighting orcs when I'm able to defeat them, and in chapter 4/5 there's A LOT of them!

Also, chapter 2 is quite easy after the first time.. a few run potions and you'll do it in a matter of seconds. And another thing, don't enter at night - just run to the old shed where Marcos is, and use the bed there.

Tastes are not to be discussed - as ancients used to say.
Personally I liked all the chapters - only 5th was little lacking side quests for my (and only my) taste.
