My question may sound pathetic, but here goes...
How could I find out my frame rate while in the game?
I installed the patch, it worked!
At least the game seems crash less now.
Thank you! |

I Still get those pauses for some reason, like randomly happen, it'll pause for a couple seconds then be fine again (not any loading region /interior/exterior thing just pauses out of the blue) |

Didn't boost my fps, but I haven't had one crash to desktop since installing the new exe. Excellent. |

Are you guys ABSOLUTE SURE this file contains no viruses???? |
|
Ok, ok - I'm going to bite on this one.
However, it's really hard for me to just run some strange .exe on my computer.
Are you guys ABSOLUTELY SURE this new morrowind.exe contains no viruses???? Has anyone actually run a virus scanner on this guy???
Jamison, it's not that I don't trust you, but I'm just scared... |

The file is clean. I was getting about 9 FPS in cities and 14-20 outside before installing the patch. Now it's about 13 in cities and a more steady 22 outside. |

Guys,
I can't be certain that Jamison's .exe caused this, but I just ran a virus check (Norton, latest defs) and found a backdoor. I'd just installed the patch. Again, I don't know that the patch inserted the backdoor; I'll post when I get more info. If anyone else has Norton and could run a check, I could get some verification. |

How will any patches from Beth. affect this new exe? |

likely a false alarm--i just removed the backdoor:

Again, I don't know where I picked this one up. There's a good chance that I got it within the last day or so while surfing, and that Jamison's file is completely innocent. I would be more comfortable if an established member (not me) w/ an updated virus checker would post. |

Before you apply any official patches from Bethesda, you should restore the file structure back to the way it was originally after a fresh install. There is a chance that an official patch will need to access the original executable, so you should always rename the original executable before using my fix, so you can restore it back the way it was beofre applying any official patches from Bethesda.

I'm not an "established member", but I can say that the latest version of Norton AntiVirus with the latest update (May 3) doesn't detect anything. This isn't a 100% guarantee that there's nothing malicious, but the probability is very slim. |
