When you say "mook", do you mean "monk"? It's the class that determines that stuff, not the race. Anyway, assuming you mean "monk", you can be successful with a bo or using martial arts. I favor the arts because you get lots of attacks per round (I've gotten as many as 12 with a hasted monk against a slowed critter), each with a chance for a critical hit. As for mindread, it's a 3rd level spell being picked by a hybrid, so it will be available at level 9. You'll also need 45 points for it to be available (points=psionic book skill + 10% of mental realm skill). The points requirement may be the one that will be tough for you to meet, depending on how you've distributed your skill points. _________________ =Proud Member of the Non-Flamers Guild=

I've run two monks and always kept them unarmed with short range weapons, fighting with the martial arts skill (and throwing skill as needed). Oddly enough, my first monk was also a mook which I chose because of their strength + prediliction for psionics. _________________ The world itself shifts and changes and fades to mist like the strings of a minstrel's harp, and mayhap the dreams we forge are more enduring than the works of kings and gods.-Robert E. if you put a stick in your Monk's secondary hand, she'll get more attacks, and the M.Arts bonus helps with the Dual penalty until your Dual skill gets good.
It's really kinda kewl that "Throwing and Sling" includes so many different things; you can get more attacks here, too, by loading Shuriken in both hands. Too bad there's only one Boomerang Shuriken! |

Hey now! I went back and re-read Dteowner's post:
You need 30 Skill points for L3 spells, not 45! I know this well, it's the one i like to practise with the most.
Spell Level/Caster level/Skill points: 1/1/0: 2/3/15: 3/5/30: 4/8/45: 5/11/60: 6/14/75: 7/18/90. Caster level may be Hybrid level minus 4. |
