Dif between Gothic 2 and Arx Fatalis? Pros and Cons

I have just finished Gothic 2 as a merc. The expansion-pack is far away so my plan is too play Arx F.

- How is the gameplay compare to G2?
- How is the control compare?
- How is the story compare?
- How is the graphic compare?

- Anything else I need too know?

Many question I know. But RPG is now my life

G2 and ARX?

I played Gothic but not G2. I'm still waiting for it here. Arx is similar but it is unique. It has first person view, and stratagy based combat. It is much smaller world, but I felt more immersed in it than I did Gothic or Morrowwind. Controls are similar and you have options to set up how you want them. The spell casting is totally different system. You have to draw the spells to use them. Story is good, but this is a linear game. The graphics are excellent and the audio with it make you feel like you are in the caves and stuff. I jumped several times. Even after playing 9 times that crypt always got to me. Down side is lack of ingame direction, but PDF file is great. It is like your log book should be, and yet it doesn't give you a lot of spoilers. This game is a challenge to finish even with complete walkthrough. And it has high replay, since you can do the tasks, and fight the battles in so many different ways. You build your character and your decisions are critical to how you end up playing. Be sure if you get it to download the patch right away. It was very buggy out of the box. Download and print the PDF and you will have a walkthrough, all maps, all stats, all NPC's ect. ect. If you liked Gothic you will probably be happy with this game. I personally compare it closer to Gothic than MW for sure. Hope this helps a little. P.S. New item on it in the news bits on main board for ARX.

Very different. cmckj50 covered this pretty well. Only things I would add are:
    Its more linear
More hacking for the sake of it (Not quest related)
Spells are overpowered (I can kill almost everything in 1 hit with a fireball)

Probably easier than Gothic. as cmckj50 stated, the spell casting is very novel. (You draw runes in the air with your hand)

I havent finished it, but so far I would say the quality is pretty comparable. Gothic is slightly better because of the complex relationships between the different factions.

The Graphics are very nice. Depends on what you like, there are no outside area's, so their is no equivalent to the vastness of Gothics landscapes. But what their is is very nice.

I think cmckj50 covered everything else.
