Poisoning arrows was piece of cake. However enchanting a bow was a problem since I was a basic spellcaster and enchanting scrolls were hard to come accross.. Anyone more succesful than me? _________________ - Merz |

poisened arrows and other poisen questions |
|
I'ts easy to make poisened arrows for the bow...just double click poisen...then click on arrows...Is there a way to remove the poisen from a blade other than using up it's charges on something?
HELDWIN~ what do you mean a weapon can have 2 poisen enchantments...put poisen on 2 times to double the amount of charges of poisen? POISEN CHARGES are determined by character level aren't they?...But are you saying that you can double that by applying poisen twice??? _________________ The Seven of Wands fortells success...

poisened arrows...golem hearts |
|
Poisening arrows is easy...double click on poisen and click on arrows...
Heldwin ~ what do you mean...poisen can use 2 enchantments...? put poisen on twice and it doubles the amount of poisen attacks?...does it make the poisen more effective...stronger?...and can you remove poisen from a blade other than by using it on something??? I accidently killed Shaney during the rescue by just comming near her with a poisened sword...so replayed without using poisen...couldn't figure how to remove it once enchanted except by killing something...I wonder...could you kill yourselfwith a poisened blade???
And what about using golem hearts for the paralyze ability...anyone try that...?Is it a one shot deal or is it lasting??? _________________ The Seven of Wands fortells success...

Can't answer all your questions but you can't have more then an echantment at a time, and you can't kill yourself with a poisoned blade since you can't use it aginast yourself.
As for Shany did you save her? As soon as you hit her once she dies, regardless of wether the sword is poinsine and whatnot... |

I used a golem heart on an axe. The paralyze ability seems to be permanent. I used the golem heart to help kill the other golems on level 2 in the Temple of Akbaa. I died before the paralyze effect ran out. I made the mistake of attacking the two golems with hearts at the same time when I was extremely low on mana. I hit each golem about 10 times each. The paralyze effect did not last long only about 1 second so it was not much help.
I was not able to use anything to enchant my armor. I have 70 object knowledge and 47 casting. |

I've used garlic to good effect on bows and daggers (to increase stealth). The bone and dragon bone both worked. The hearts aren't worth much, but do give you 1 second to step back to avoid a counter blow. The Stone did give the unbreakable option. The weapon endurance, (25/50) for instance, just goes away. I've even made the regeneration ring and ring of invisiblity. The only problem is I forgot to write down my magic skill, so I don't know what level was needed if any. The big thing I noticed was you don't always get the musical 'aahh' sound. If you try casting again, it'll usually go through. _________________ Jesus saves. Allah forgives. I've got every enchantment to work this far. Although it was kind of a hassle at first. One thing you gotta take into account is the place that you're doing the enchantment (the spell, not the applying of the reagent).
I tried to enchant an axe for about fifteen minutes, almost lost it completely before I realized I was standing in the 'a-no-no-for-magic' zone of the dwarf kingdom early on. It would be nice to have a 'I can't use magic here'- kind of message...
With rings it seems to be of importance to have good object knowledge, because if you haven't identified a ring to have magical abilities (assuming it has), you get the 'but I don't wanna'-nag from the Guardian.
Altogether, my object knowledge was around 60 and casting around 40 when I made my first enchantment. Don't know about scrolls though.
From what I've read on the forum, it seems that enchanting just might be a bit on the buggy side... _________________ "Ooooh, fishy fishy fishy FISH! ...And it followed me, wherever I did go..." |

enchanting Inuts sword with Golem heart...bow or sword...? |
|
After making the strange potion ( KILLING Tizzy is not necessary...just ignore her...there are no guards in that area for her to call...even though she threatens ) I wound up with Inuts sword...first I used it as is to kill mummies and Lichs...then double clicked a Golem heart on it and killed a Lich...finally I enchanted it as well and killed another mummy and Lich...in each instance there were the various color changes and sounds ...but it's effectiveness as a paralizing weapon was very dissappointing...saw no difference between using the golem heart or not...enchanting or not...the bad guys turned blue for only a second and just kept on fighting...I couldn't identify it but cast bless to enable me to equip it...raised object knowledge up to 63 and still couldn't identify it...what's the story ...? I have a save game just before changing Lord Inut with the strange potion...what are the advantages/disadvantages of either the sword or bow...after reading about the bow shooting fire the sword seems a poor weapon...it does nothing...or is that because I can't identify it??? Thanks to all for the info~ _________________ The Seven of Wands fortells success...

RAVENAL, the situation with the magik sword is strange indeed. I read on this forum that someone with max Object Knowledge still was not able to identify the sword. This is in particular puzzling as the bow seems to be ready for use right away..
As for the advantages of the magik bow (can't comment on the sword), it depends on the your character's type:
- If you are a high-level spell-caster, then your fireballs will probably do more damage (2-3 balls vs. 4-5 arrows to take down an Ylside).
- If you are a thief character with high dexterity and high projectile skill, this bow is a bless, even though the fights with liches are still touph and golems are not killable (I think they are immune to fire).
- The warrior type falls probably somewhere in between.
One minor minus of the bow is that if an enemy is immune to fire (if I am right about golems) then its base damage is reduced to 6. Also there is limited number of arrows in Arx, so if someone is primarily (ab-)using bow, I recommend to stash some for later to fuel the Inut's bow. _________________ - Merz |

Inut's magic sword...summoning...? |
|
Last night on the JoWood forum I read in a post that the sword has the paralize ability(no wonder using the golem heart had no added effect)and it restores a certain amount of health points with each use...don't remember the formula...but I can't seem to find info on the sword...maybe I've missed something...I think I'm going with the sword...and I'm not sure what kind of character I'm playing...I find that confusing...I'm at level 9 after this Inut quest and have invested alot in magic and also thieving...but my close combat and projectile are in the mid 40's...what does that make me?...with my magic at over 90 (wearing both casting rings) now I still cannot cast some spells and that's really frustrating since the next level up is soooooo...far away....over 60,000...that seems impossible...because I had an early bug I've missed out on some quests..and...XP's....the big one being GREU...but you mentioned in a prior post that I could kill Chiklashh for the book...but then I'd have to fight all of Arx...I don't think I have the patience...but I now intend to try another strategy...summoning ...to do the dirty work for me...I wonder if this gets you off the hook for murdering her...? _________________ The Seven of Wands fortells success...

I *heard* creatures you summoned would lead to any XP.
Recently I discovered that picking locks and doors gives you XP (gained a level doing it...) So well, if you've left some stuff unlocked, do open them |

summoning and calling up the undead...pickpocketed CHIKLASHH |
|
Well that strategy for killing Chiklashh by summoning a demon or calling up the undead didn't work...she killed them and then came after me...or I had to kill them because they came after me...didn't pay any attention to XP...for the kills...will explore this some more...I tried to use the spell to control the demon after summoning...but it needs level 10...and I'm at 9...from the ease in which she killed these creatures off it probably doesn't matter...DOES ANYONE REACH LEVEL 10...how?...I've already gone to the crypt and killed off the respawned Lichs and some undead...and killed a few spiders and rats...there is nothing left alive in level 5...level 3 or level 2 except Greu...I did manage to find a way to pickpocket Chiklashh even though she is always turned to look at you...found a key to who knows where...and 4 question marks...some of the quests or info she never provided me with...but no book for Greu...this was very odd since earlier in the game I did kill her for the book and found it there...it was a game I never saved...replayed and left her alive since I didn't want to kill off the whole town or skew my game any further than it is now...I have lockpicked my way into just about everything and everywhere...did you have something specific in mind RED??? _________________ The Seven of Wands fortells success...

Just so long as you don't use the last arrow in the quiver of arrows, you can have the blacksmith 'repair' them for you and then you'll never run out of arrows. _________________ Jesus saves. Allah forgives. Cthulhu thinks you'd make a nice sandwich... |
