Do NPC inventory respawn after time as in G1?

In Gothic 1 some inventory items would respawn on NPC over time. The prisoners could be 'beaten up' and take thier stuff and some items such as food would respawn on them and they would eat it to regain health. You could beat them again and have more food.

I could pickpocket the guards for free arrows, which also respawn.

In the new camp, you could sell swampweed to the mercenaries and rouges for real 10 ore, then go ahead and beat them up and take it back. After a 24-hour game cycle past midnight, they will want to buy more from you all over again. Just keep selling them back thier own swampweed over and over forever. Evil dealer trick.

Gothic 2 it seem that pickpocket would be a waste since NPC do not seem to respawn any thing on thier person . They only regain health by sleeping. The life of the thief I hope is good, since the skill investments make you weaker; they say that it is balanced guilds, so can you win the game as a thief? Is the pickpocket skill and sneaking still worthless?

Lockpicking is more realistic ONLY if you enable random codes in the INI file which is off by default, thus no need to spend a LP on it just reload game until you get the right combo. That will not work if random codes is enabled.

A side not, you can enable RANDOM lockpick codes on the chest in the Gothic2.ini file as said in the readme. It is not on by default (should be). Makes the lockpick skill more useful than the power of the reload and try again until you get it right (that is cheating in a bad way IMHO).

I'm guessing you haven't played Gothic 2 yet?

Item respawns, er..I am not sure...I have robbed Ignaz several times tho, so some characters definatly get new items later.
The theives guild is an optional guild, you join it even if your already in another guild. There's only 2 theives skills, lockpicking and pickpocketing. Both cost 5 skill points each, and how well you can do them is determined by your dexterity. so, no theives aren't much weaker (if you played as paladin/fighter) if you played as a mage, then dexterity costs double, and mages never need dexterity, so i guess it's harder to be a theif if your a mage.

Thanks for the info. I am just now playing through the game all over again.

At Lobart's farm, nobody respawns anything except for Vino; he always gets his rake back after the 24-hour game cycle. NPC health regeneration is done diferent in G2, through sleep, and not food regenerating and eating it.

Well, I guess I can add Ignzar to the list as a 'mark'.

Anyone else know of NPC that respawn items on them?

Im not bored enough to be downright scandalous, my games are pretty much straight-forward (always afraid of that NPC with the long memory that will screw my quest later or something)
