| error msg illegal object index 1818326387 cant leave temple |

when i try to leave temple it loads almost halfway when i get the error message D: zArchiver (::Read Object) objRef, illegal object index error 1818326387. am I screwed

Sounds serious.  Unfortunately this is beyond the abilities of a fan forum. You should try to reinstall the game or mail Piranha Bytes.

Possibility 1.
Try to leave *ALL* your possession (objs, food, potions, armors, weapons... ALL) in the temple and then exit. If it's a problem of bad allocation probably could work... then (if it works!) reload and exit without leaving anything.
Possibility 2.
There is something (probably an obj) broken allocation in the temple. Try to get all you can from the corpse and the floor and then leave the temple... (again as in step 1.)
BTW: had you cheated?
I don't know if it's the solution but it's all you can try without managing the game-source or the savegame-binaries...
