Ah, the ending... but some questions...?(spoiler, obviously) |
|
Two odd questions on the ending.
First, is there any way to end the game other than the "right" ending? For example, there was a hand-crank to "start up" the new god/machine...
Second, while I was gearing up for my journey into the Red Mountain area, I ran across an imperial fellow named "Wulf" who asked me, as a favor, to carry his coin, and indeed gave me an "Old Man's Lucky Coin" which stayed in my inventory the entire time. Asking any of the folks at ghostgate about him, all denied his existence and said they'd never heard of such a person... what was that all about?
Just curious--seemed quite odd.

Where did you meet that guy?
Yeah there's a way to get to the ending on a slightly different path, by killing vivect and remaking wraithguard, I'm doing that with my character now, problem is I need 20 reputation and although I'm guildmaster of morag tong, almost the highest rank in the fighters guild and a bandit of the thieves guil I only have 14 rep, it doesn't seem to rise at all after I became guildmaster of the morag tong. oh well gonna try some more before I jsut set my reputation to go on in the bad way
Doesn't look like from the editor anyway that you can actually get rid of dagoth ur by not destroying the heart though, although I will try anyway would be fun.
And I know for sure you can stay away from the blades althogether, only thing you need to get to the end of that main quest nerevarine prophecy is sunder, keeening and wraithguard. |

Wulf, you mean? In the "bar" in the western tower of Ghostgate, about five feet away from the bartender (*IMMEDIATELY* after talking to Wulf, I asked the bartender about him, and the response was that she'd never seen an imperial at Ghostgate, despite the fact that she was standing five feet from him, lol...)

If you are part of the Imperial Cult, you can ask a certain high-ranked oracle (Varian) about Wulf, and you will learn that he is the god Tiber Septum the First, incarnate (Look at your new power: Luck of the Emperor). You will also get a two point reputation bump. If you go back to where he was, you will see that he is gone. He only appears with a regular, non-backpath character. _________________ Make good choices. |

Aah, so that's where "Luck of the Emperor" came from! Makes much more sense. Thank you.

Well, you may not be able to turn it on, but there was a dwemer-style crank right next to the heart which was labeled (when you targeted it) with the new god's name. So I'm not sure what happens if you turn it on. The robot doesn't exactly look finished, so I'm not sure it would be a good idea...

I remember seeing two cranks. One to the left and one to the right. I could be wrong though. I was only 18 when I reached the heart, so I had my hands full with Dagoth Ur and fooling around wasn't on the agenda.
BTW, has anybody got any info on what impact the questions, Dagoth Ur asks you, have overall? _________________ (@) |

I tried the cranks and they're a no-go
*Major Letdown Spoiler*
I also looked at the script for the heart, and there is no script for anything other than destroying it, unless like some people have said in other forums, it is hard-coded, which in unlikely.
Maybe if we bug Bethesda enough they will release a plugin that lets you become a god. |
