The Guru Returns...(Chapter 1) |
|
Ok people, all this talking about Gothic II is getting me anxious so...
I broke out my copy of Gothic and decided to run through it one last time for kicks. I am going to complete EVERY single quest you can do before having to make a camp decision (Chap 2) and I'm going to do all of this all off of my level 1 stats. (kinda)
Impossible!! (you say)
Not exactly. There are many ways to get around raising stats/skills unnecessarily...you just need a lot of MONEY.
And in tomorrow's post I will show you how to accumulate more than enough items to barter your way comfortably through the game right up to chapter 3 within the first 10 minutes of landing in the barrier...CHEAT FREE. |

You can even beat Gothic without joining a camp. Of course without cheating. _________________ Webmaster GothicDot |

Ok so here we go.
To make things go really fast I did as little fighting as possible. Seeing as how all monsters are static until the next chapter, I have up until I choose a camp to kill them for exp before they all reset (for chap2).
* Come down the road and kill the junior scavengers around the area (3 by the hunters, 2 on their lil island) Then kill the 3 Scavengers around the back (This will get you a level). Just behind the Scavengers is 1 Molerat with 5 Hell Mushrooms near him in a semi-circle (Take them for Snarf's Quest)
* Talk to Diego to activate quests
* Do Snarf's quest
* Do Fisk's quest
* Do Sly's quest (Note: In order to complete this quest, Sly must be the LAST member associated with this quest you talk to. In other words, talk to Snarf and Fletcher first.)
* Talk to Dusty before leaving OC
* Get into the inner circle of the tower and give Milten his scroll and take the +5 Str ring from Torrez.
* Since you're in the inner circle you might as well pay a visit to Thorus'room
Door1: R,L,L,L,R,L Door2: L,R,L,L,L,R
Floor1: (L.Chest) - L,L,R,R,R,L,R,R (R.Chest) - L,R,R,L,L,L,L,R
Floor2: (L.Chest) - R,R,R,L,L,R,L,R (R.Chest) - R,L,L,L,R,L,R,R
( Chest ) - L,R,R,L,R,L,L,R
Floor3: (L.Chest) - L,L,L,R,L,L,R,R (R.Chest) - R,R,L,L,L,L,R,L
Lot of nice goodies in here and a nice view at the top. After you're done here, head over to Fisk's Storage Room (L,R,R,L)
Big Chest - L,L,L,R,L,L
Small Chest - R,L,L,R
R.Chest - L,R,L,R
L.Chest - R,R,R,L
During the daytime, this may be risky, but after he goes to bed, the coast is clear. Then head back to Diego (and his chest) R,L,L,R,R,R
Now, by this point, you will have a wealth of goods to barter with. You can use all the goods to buy the things you REALLY want (Health & Stamina potions/ arrows/ scrolls/ runes, weapons, etc).
Now at this point, you have 2/3 of your initiation quests for OC completed with 1 more to go and the Test of Faith.
I *DONT* recommend doing Finger's quest. Although its easy enough to complete, with a little patience (with Save & Reload) you can get any pickable chest in the game opened.
ex: start with 10 picks, save game, open chest, reload. Now you can get it opened with 1 pick, 1 try.
I *DONT* recommend doing Scully's quest (yet) because you dont have the Str (or skill) to take out the 1st challenger.
Now at this point, you have the Bhaal Parvaal wanting to escort you to the SC and Mordrag wanting to escort you to NC.
I recommend going with Mordrag to NC because:
1) He is your ticket to getting to Lares without a bloody battle (that you'll lose, not to mention a ton of nice exp)
2) He carves that nice lil path right to the NC while you reap all the exp
Along the way to NC remember to stop by Cavalorn's (OC Ranger) spot along the road by the Goblins. There you'll find a chest in his hut with his key in it that lets you into *another* room inside of a cave guarded by Molerats. In there you'll find a scroll but more importantly a Short Bow with a dex req of 10 that you can easily activate without any need to raise stats. A little further along you'll find Aidan (NC Ranger) where he will show you how to take the trophies from animals (furs, claws, hides). For the sake of speed, I wouldnt bother with these skills yet.
Remember to check out the chest by the bridge leading to the NC (L,L,R) |

Ok, in our latest installment, our hero was just about to enter the NC.
Now for those of you who choose not to raid the OC's chests to get some needed supplies, here's the free way to get the basics:
Basic Weaponry:
Withered Axe (Nek's Body)
Farmer's Defense (Beat up the bald cook once he leaves Gomez' tower and heads for the OC kitchen at nighttime)
Crude Sword (can be made at any forge once you get a blade, but requires 20 str.)
Short Bow (Cavalorn's hut).
Once you head to NC, the advantage of looting the tower comes into play because you can head over to Lares and you can complete his quest of screwing Bhaal Isidro out of weed money *AND* you can complete Bhaal Isidro's quest of giving him his weed money. Extra 500 exp.
Then you can run over to...(cont) |
